Missy is acting a bit funny tonight, she was crawling around on me fine but she then jumped onto the top of the cage and is moving strangely, she was holding onto the bars with her front and seemed to be running on the spot with her back legs. We are worried, she has been jumping from us to the cage and back, and seems to be running ok on us but it is hard to tell, she has just done the samwe thing on the bed to.

Can anybody help?

an experienced owners probably your best bet on that one

did notice with mine before they had the problems that if they are on something they cant get purchase on they scramble their feet a little
as front legs normally hit first it seems to be the backlegs that rove more for purchase.
hope someone can enlighten you quickly to set your mind at rest

nothing else to concern you like lethargy, change in eating, change in mood, falls etc?

Not really, she has been playing with a feather and seems ok generally, they are late risers and are usually onnly waking up around now, they were only at the vets the other day for a health check and the vet seemed happy with them. I just get worried very easily. Im sure you understand that, I know you have been through a lot with Phil and Lil.

you have them cos you love them
if you love them you will always be concerned for them... and hence worry!

yep
dont panic though from the sounds of things nothing as drastic as phil and lil
at least I hope not!

maybe shes just playing up to you!

phil managed to put on a limp when first went to roxys that vanished overnight!
and they are (normally!) amazinglly rebust!

lol someone as paranoid as I am... I've come to accept that mine (waffle mostly) Changes his behaviour one min he's "normal" the next he's acting odd but I think that's just the way he is and I shouldn't watch them so much and over analyse everything they do.

I could be wrong but just thought I'd let you you're not alone in over worrying...

Your glider is probably ok. If she was moving lethargically or seemed to be in pain or unable to easily maneuver her legs - falling, losing balance - then this could be an emergency. These animals have evolved to climb on limbs, tree trunks, and hang on before gliding.

If your glider can easily jump from you to another surface, is eating well, and playing well, she/he is most likely just fine. We keep them in an artificial environment very unlike their natural one. She/he may just not be that crazy about the surface texture.

Thanks, I think she is ok, she is back in her cage at the moment and has just been hanging upsaide down from her back legs so that can only be a good thing!

Just had a thought, I had put their food bowl on top of the cage when chaging them over, maybe it was a bit sticky and she didn't like that!

I think my panic is over (until I find a new one tomorrow)  Roll Eyes

Thanks everybody for your help!

Ok, running on the spot, I think I know what you mean.  I think she is either not getting grip if it's with both legs OR if it's one at a time she's grooming her belly Smiley

she was running along the top at the time but the direction she was running would mean that the bars were more vertical than horizontal

Im thinking I am just a paranoid Mum, I suppose its best to be one than not, you never know! She was hanging upside down later on and was still running round this morning so I think that is probably the case.

Thanks a lot for putting my mind at rest!
