You can use Iams cat biscuits as the main source of protein. Give them every night and you can use egg a couple of times a week. It is really confusing at first but you get used to it!

fou fou sympathies! Helen's got herself all confused bless her, so she pm'd me to have a look and sort it out , the italics are me (Marie) I felt like I was in a biology statistic exam or something initially and emailed marie so many times (and no doubt will do again in future!!) but got there in the end initially freaked out as when you first look at figures it looks like the only thing you can feed is papaya or watercress or all the values screw!! (soon realised why everyone uses papaya so much even though as a human I dont like the stuff!) I can't stand the stuff eitherbut after some number crunching it makes some sense! I must confess I only tend to use 3 or 4 fruit/veg each day as those are the only ratios have sussed! but have a choice of 4 menus in the freezer so they get different mush of combination of mush each day! Ok, so IF ca:p ratio's are to be exact, you need to work off the same weight for each fruit, so 100g of papaya has a ratio of 4.8:1, 100g of apple is 1:1. So lets 'pretend' you're using 100g of each fruit.other thing I found helpful is just putting twice the amount of good cp ratio item in to boost values eg , 200g of papaya then means you have raito of of 4.8:1 TWICE Ive found a 3-4 veg mix each at 100g roughly fills an ice cube tray! That's useful to know sorry if I am stating the obvious!! just know for me it wasnt and I got soo frustrated thinking everyone seems to find it all ok and I have a science degree and couldnt suss it!!! so far with me had below menu! > > half portion of fig 1.25:0.5 (remember it's HALF a portion), whole of raspberry 1.8:1 and sweet potato 0.8:1 with half portion of papaya 2.4:0.5 = 6.25:3 > ie2.08 to 1 > > papaya, sweet potoe and apple ie 2.2 to 1> > > egg, papaya, squash, lemon and a tiny bit of eucalptus honey (asda extra > special range which I got way back at easter!) > ie 2.05 to 1 also done some mix of kiwi, papya and squash or something?! but it worked just cant remember as all can see now is orange coloured mush! also one day did an unpurred papaya, plum and something else?! mix - didnt work as well - had plum thrown at me! so yes go with the puree! double check before you take my word for it as these ratios were ok while I was doing extra calcium supplement to protect against HLP as the gliders were new to me 3 weeks ago (as the extra calcium would counteracts the fact IAMs only has a 1 to 1 ratio) but I think now I am looking at it again it now means if I am not supplementing with calcium my menu will still have values that are too low if I add the iams back into this ratio!! duoh! umm ok! was intending to help but feel I may have hindered! this is where an open forum helps! guys can you sort me out and correct what I should be saying!! I really dont think I should type again when ill its just not happening!

I have decided Im going to do a bathch of 2 different fruit/veg mixes so I can alternate them nightly. Here is the first one, is this OK? Its not bang on 2:1 but its not far off...
Papaya - 4.8:1 Fig - 2.5:1 Pear - 1.0:1 Butternut squash - 1.5:1 Totalling - 9.8 : 4
Will work out another one now.
EDIT - another one.
Papaya - 4.8:1 Apple - 1.0:1 Raspberries - 1.8:1 Watercress - 2.0:1 Totalling - 9.6 : 4
Will these 2 be OK alternated nightly, with a few Iams cat biscuits sprinkled on top? Will also be getting the Agave Nectar from Asda to flavour it. Can also add yoghurt now and then to mix in with the fruit/veg. Can swap the cat biscuits with egg twice a week also. How often shall I give yoghurt? Think thats everything. Can use vitamin supplement every night, and calcium depending on my Ca:ph. When would I need to use it going by the diet I plan to use? Thanks.

Both of those diets are above the optimum 2:1 ratio, which give you a bit of breathing space to put in some other stuff, the top one for example try adding some sugar snap peas and carrot
papaya - 4.8:1 fig - 2.5:1 pear 1:1 B/nut sq 1.5:1 s/snap peas 0.8:1 carrot 0.6:1 Totalling 11.2:6 = 1.8:1
Try and do a 50/50 split of fruit and veg and experiment, there's so many different yummy fruits (especially) out there you don't need to stick to the same ones all the time, variation.
if you were to feed the 2 mixes (with fruits and veg all in equal amounts) you've given as an example, then you'd only need to use the calcium once a week because the ratio's are MORE than the recommended 2:1. You need to remember too much calcium is as bad as not enough.
Oh - catherine while I remember, I haven't sent the pouch yet ... my useless o/h keeps forgetting to bring it home!!!

Ive no idea what sugar snap peas are lol, will have a look for some. With the carrot and butternut squash do I need to cook it? And if I was to get a ratio more or less at 1.8: 1 how often would I need to use the calcium then? Thanks for letting me know about the pouch

How about these 2 then? Papaya - 4.8:1 Fig - 2.5:1 Pear - 1.0:1 Butternut squash - 1.5:1 Totalling 11.2: 6 (1.8:1) Sugar snap peas - 0.8:1 Carrot - 0.6:1 Papaya - 4.8:1 Apple - 1.0:1 Raspberries - 1.8:1 Watercress - 2.0:1 Sweet potato - 0.8:1 Totalling 11.4: 6 (1.9:1) Green beans - 1.0:1 Iams cat biscuits as protein source. Use egg twice a week. Agave nectar to flavour fruit/veg mix. Vit supplements every night, calcium once a week. EDIT - just found sugar snap peas on Asda site. I guess I just take the peas out the shell? What needs to be cooked out of the 2 diets? Thankyou

No need to cook the carrots or b/nut squash, or sweet potato even! SUgar snap peas, just chuck the whole thing in, the pod is edible too, and they are absolutely gorgeous!! Even my dogs like them You'd only need to use the glidercal once or twice a week. I tend to give cal when I use boiled egg as a protein source.
