Hi - our 2 sugars (you'll see 'em next week Marie!) seem to be incredibly lazy.   They're up & down all night, go into their bed about 8ish -am and don't emerge until about 10.30pm...................it this normal!!!!!  It's quite late for my son to have them out and about (although he doesn't mind staying up!!) and I just wondered if there's any way to get the trained to come out to play earlier!!!   ::)Temp in the room seems fine by the way.

You can help them change their sleeping/waking schedule by controlling the amount of light their cage gets and their photoperiods. This is a good time of year to help them make this change as we still have longer nights right now.

If possible, turn off the lights in the glider room at dark and back on at daylight. You can go ahead and get them up earlier than their natural time, feed them, play with them and then put them back for a nap and nighttime play. Their natural sleep/wake time will adjust to waking up earlier and going to sleep earlier.

When the days lengthen, you can maintain the getting up earlier in the evening schedule by making sure that darkness begins for them earlier by covering their cage w/a dark fabric.

When we wake them earlier they just sit for a bit and then go back to bed!!!  His room is permanently dark except for when I open the curtains to tell them it's daylight in the morning!!!!!  How long should they be sleeping....................wish I could do it for this long

Well, if you wake them earlier, you should take them out to play for awhile. Their sleep varies. If they are carried around during the day, mine seem to nap more during the night. Mine are awake and playing off an on through the night over a period of about 10 hrs. And sleep during the day for about 14 hrs.

Mine don't surface until about 1am
And I usually end up sitting here 'til 3am just watching them!!
