my cage is one with wire bottom and then tray underneath to catch bits...
have noticed occasionally before if there is fleece blanket in the tray and cat biscuits fall through
then phil would hook the fleece with his paw to pull it up until he could fish the bit of biscuit back through the bars

tonight (and last night!) as the fleece is drying I am using some new stuff (a paper based bedding that is colour and ink free)
... it is kind of little scrunched up bits of cardboardy paper...

and he has spent about 20min fishing bits up and then dropping them back... I dont think it is due to food as it isnt near his food bowl.... any ideas or is he just taking up a new hobby!

nice to have you back marie and glad you had good time!

glad its a normal glider thing if a little quirky!
was beginning to wonder if as this time it isnt food related if it was some boredom thing even though he seems fine but with his tail playing up as well!

they are great at finding ways out arent they!
although my current escape proofing with wire (thanks tille!) seems to be working now it is wedged so they cant pull it out!
last time they escaped as nothing seemed to be moved in the cage the only reason I knew was there had been a wing nut on my bookshelf which I then found on the floor ,....hmm the 2 innocents sleeping in the cage obviously hadnt been there all night!

Thanks Helen, it's nice to be back, I had a great weekend but it was tiring and I missed my suggies and dogs soooooo much!!!  Roll Eyes

Lol - your two really are little monsters aren't they?  I rarely have issues with escapees, though I did catch one joey trying to squeeze through the gap between the cage and one of the little doors that slides!  Just one of their charms I think  Smiley

he's at it again!
as of the last 20min!

I guess its a new habit Il have to get used too.... there wouldnt be anything in the bedding hes trying to get would there?

and please tell me theyre not gross and eat their own poo or anything like dogs do they (my sister asked me whenI first got them if they pee on their hands to grip better like bush babies too... that was a very bit NO!)

yep mine are certainly characters!
no more escapes recently though - thanks tillie!
only problem is if I move the cage as then everything needs reshuffling slightly and she normally manages to use that as a chance to get out!
still she nearly always comes too my hand now if shes out!
and will now ride on my leg if I move across the room! dont think il ever have a pouched under the top baby like some of you though!

He could be trying to reach for a piece of food he's dropped, mine often do that if they drop their yoggie drop!!  Bless them.  Gliders do occasionally eat poo, but it's not an every day thing.

Does it matter that I just use newspaper on the bottom of my tray? They have scooped it up once or twice but never pulled it through the bottom of the cage. The reason I ask is seeing that post above about using paper with no ink etc... I'm not aware of them chewing it, just trying to hook food back up! Grin
