Hey everyone Smiley! My name is Casey and I'm from Northern Ireland. I'm happy to say that after three years of researching, begging my parents, saving my pennies and finally finding two sugar gliders here that I'm about to get two gorgeous little marsupial friends Cheesy!

They are very hard to find here in Northern Ireland, after searching this forum I have only found one lady who has some (that's the lady who has all the chinchillas! sorry I can't remember your name!) And I have never seen them for sale until a few months ago when my local reptile shop got them in. It was my first time seeing them in the flesh and I was so, SO excited. Although the conditions they are in right now are pretty awful, I have been able to interact with them and they seem healthy, so if everything goes to plan within the next week/two weeks I'll be bringing them home Smiley!

It is a male/female pair. And the male is NOT neutered. I was a bit worried about this at first but I volunteer at my local vets and they say they'll be happy to neuter the male when I need it done. However I'd really like to let them have a couple of babies before I have to do that I think Smiley.
I am naming them Donnie and Gretchen (after my favourite movie, Donnie Darko Smiley).

I have a lot of work to do this week, going to build them a cage so I'll be asking lots of questions to make sure I get it right. And I'm going to start practicing preparing their meals everynight just so I know what I'm doing for when they get here!!

I'm a real animal person, they're basically my life. I study an animal management course at college and hope to go on to do either marine biology or zoology at uni in two years.
Here are the current inhabitants of my tiny zoo Smiley
Golden retriever called Buffy (best dog ever Smiley)
Western hognose snake called Hannah.
White's tree frog called Ollie.
Rat called Layla (soon to be two rats, she was a recent rescue and I'm just trying to find the right companion for her at the minute Smiley)
Lop eared rabbit called Spazzy.
Several large marine tanks Smiley.
Soon to be added to the list are: a bearded dragon, leopard gecko, hermann's tortoise, common snapping turtle and an african pygmy hedgehog Smiley. But the suggies are coming first and it'll be a while before the rest come!

I'd like to really thank Marie for pointing me in the direction of this lovely forum. Can't wait to show off pics of my new babies Cheesy!

Casey.

Oh you will seriously NOT be disappointed with a hognose!! They are so, so cute and so friendly!!!
Here are a couple of pics of mine Smiley. She was about to go into shed in this pic, and for some reason she goes a lot darker before she goes that dull shedding colour. She's usually a lot lighter than this, but she's still pretty Smiley!

Hope you like Smiley! She is soooo much nicer coloured after she's shed!

Thanks everyone!!
I didn't realise she was so big! But she's about two and a half foot long so I guess that is quite a good size for a hoggie!!
I've only had her about a year, she was in the reptile shop for about seven months. Someone had brought her in cos she hadn't eaten in three months, and she continued not to eat for the whole seven months she was in the shop. She was horribly skinny and the owner gave me her for a bit cheaper cos he didn't think she was going to make it. I had her home for one week and tried her with a mouse and she gobbled it down as soon as I put it in!! I was so happy and excited, now she's a big thick girl and I'm on the look out for a male to try and breed them! (I'd love an albino male, that'd be awesome Smiley)!

Oh I just thought I'd point out that I'm a guy! Usually sooner or later someone will assume I'm a girl cos of my name, so I just thought I'd let you's know now lol!

Oh crap!! I didn't read these posts till today, and I've just bought a whole load of galvanised wire!! I can return it though, but I didn't see anything else I could use.

It says it's safe to use for animal pens, is it really not safe for the gliders??

its just when the gliders wee on it the zinc can cause uriny? tract infections, it pretty much burns when they pee

you can however get some plastikote and cover the wire in a few layers of that  Cool xx
