Undecided  hi, my female came out tonight and her two lumps were gone,(this happened a few months ago aswell) ive found one baby on the floor of the cage, its about an inch long with eyes closed and no hair, ive given it back to mum twice and both times she cleans it and then drops it out the pouch onto the floor again, its alive and not crying, i dont know what to do with it, i cant get any milk till the morning for it unless it can have baby milk. help please.

ok, mum went into coconut so i put baby in there too, dad went in and so did one more female, mum cleaned it up then mum and dad came out for dinner and the other female stayed in there and has been cleaning it for about 2 minutes, she looks like shes being a bit rough but its not crying and she is definatly licking it and not biting, no sign of other baby.

i have no experience in these circumstances but the only thing i can do is put you onto this stickie on this thread

http://www.sugar-lumps.com/forum/index.php/topic,65.0.html

its about hand rearing, if the mother keeps kicking the baby out tonight just have a quick read and see if theres anything you can do until a few members come back on tommorrow morning

good luck and hope everything will be ok, please can you keep us updated?? only if you have time though xx

I echo what *look up* says if you feel the parents are not looking after it and have rejected it then pull the little one. If not then leave it with mum but make sure mum is feeding it. The link in the above post shows you how to hand rear should you have to pull.

How does the little one seem this morning

hi, no sigh of baby in coconut or main pouch with everyone else today, mum and dad have gone into small pouch now that i havent checked yet, she has a tiny pink thing sticking out of her pouch that im guessing is a teat so im hoping baby has been put somewere and she has been feeding it, this is so horrible, its happened twice with her now so maybe she is just a crap mum, the other female spent ages cleaning it last night while mum was eating, i thought it would be ok, will check everywere else now. Sad

Unfortuntaley this is the not so nice part of breeding and something we all need to know happens so thank you for posting.

Mums can leave their joeys for a time in the pouch, it was more the dropping on the floor that concerned me. If mum is feeding the joey then leave her to it but keep an eye on her, if shes not feeding or is hurting the joey then pulling is your only option.

It might also be worth thinking about getting your male neutered so you do not go through this again, I understand this is the second time this has happened? if so it will stop alot of stress all round. Just an option to look into

I'd definately consider neutering the male, this is the third time it's happened.  Had I have seen this last night I would have suggested you pull the joey and hand rear as the mum had thrown it out 2 more times.  This is why I urge breeders to be prepared and have something like Lactol in the cupboard just in case!  Lactol, syringes or an eye dropper for feeding and something to keep the little one in and warm at night between feeds when you can't have him/her on you.

Any sign yet?  Wish Id seen this last night, I too would have said to pull the joey as it had been found on the floor a couple of times plus the other joey was nowhere to be seen.  I hope all is ok and you got some milk today just incase, I always have womberoo/syringes/heatpad/container for joey etc in just incase, you really need to be prepared for rejection if there are joeys ip.  I do hope all is well, and if you need any help post.  I would deff get dad neutered.
