Just one glider?!?  If so, you must find him/her a friend...  Undecided

Welcome to Suggie Lumps, though Smiley

I know I need to get him a buddy but I don't have the money right now. The only reason I was able to get him was because the breeder gave us a great deal. we got Elvis and his whole cage setup for only $125. I'll get him a buddy as soon as possible. He's already 2 so I'm kinda worried about introducing him to another glider when the time comes.

His breeder was very irresponsible to have sold him on to live by himself.  He NEEDS a friend...  It's not like he could do with having a buddy, it's a need.  Lone gliders will eventually start to selfmutilate out of stress...  Even handreared gliders (who would be the most likely ones to do well with only human companionship) will do it eventually.  What you should do is get Elvis neutered and get him a girlfriend Wink

Is he neutered?  That would help with any future introductions, it would also reduce the smell and could even help the bonding process (allowing for a few weeks for the hormones to disappear).

Well here's the deal with his owner. What happened was he got 3 males and 2 females and he just started breeding. He wasn't able to get elvis a mate and he didn't think it was fair for him to be alone and get to watch the other guys have fun. He knew how much me and my mom wanted one so he offered him to us. He's already 2.

I truly understand where you 2 are comming from but we REALLY don't have the money. I'm willing to spend a lot of time with him we just need to bond.

how much does it cost to get them nuetured?

Hiya and welcome.  Ah poor Elvis, even though you are happy to spend loads of time with him its not the same as him having a 24/7 buddy that talks his language.  I too would suggest neutering if he hasnt already been done and a buddy.  I take it your in America as you said dollars, if so can you not get a mate from rescue or place an advert on G.C?

We're not having a go at you, we're here to help, so please don't feel offended.   Smiley   I love to help people with their suggies because I love to hear about the great results, it makes me very happy to know that I've helped another glider/keeper relationship  Smiley.  You have already mentioned about getting him a friend in the near future, have you looked into maybe adopting a rescue or something?

The neutering thing, most of us are in the UK, so it's very different pricing for us over here, the best thing I can suggest is to speak to a few vets in your area, find out if they've dealt with gliders before and if they'd be willing to neuter, but do try a few vets.  Smiley

Ya, I live in the U.S. I don't mean to sound like I'm taking offense. I've been looking up stuff for so long and I'm so frustrated because almost everthing I've found hasn't been helpful. I've been talking to Marie about  the stuff i need help with in an email. You guys are like the first people who have been able to help me. I really appreciate it.

Ah bless, we are all here to help but would deff be worth looking on G.C to see if there are any in your area that need a home.  Quite often standard greys are free or very cheap in a lot of areas, I hope all works out for you.
