hi guys, my first post here  Smiley

my gliders have never been ones to bite, except for the odd nip when i first got them...but in the past couple of days they have started to bite me Huh they always start off licking my hand like mad, then suddenly bite down so hard they break the skin and wont stop! they cling on tight and just keep biting down  Undecided  the male generally just nips, but the female bites down hard and wont let go. They've never done this before except for the past 2 days.

so what can cause this excessive licking and biting? my hands are a mess!

i should add, its deffinately grooming as they do the teeth scraping thing but it just gets too rough for me to handle!

ive been doing a bit of reading around on it, from what ive gathered dry hands can cause them to go into this "grooming frenzy". So now my question is, how do i stop them? the male responds to hissing noises and usually stops but the female just doesnt stop to anything i try.

(ps mods, it would be handy to have an edit button on posts)

You should have a 'modify' button at the top right hand side of your post that allows you to edit.

As for the biting, well, the little buggers!!!  Cheesy  Sorry, shouldn't laugh (it's only because I know you!), if you have dry hands and you think that's why they're overgrooming you then get an unfragranced hand moisturiser, if it's fragranced they'll probably try and chew that off too!  Bless them.

Or you could just put them away when they do this and they should learn to associate biting with play time being cut short.

Perhaps this is related to their sexual maturity and her breeding cycles. There might be some rivalry or just general crankiness.

Try not to let them bite you. Put them away if she bites and maybe use a cat toy to try to interrupt this behavior befor it starts.
