Okay! I've gotten to the part where elvis will fall aspleep with me in his bonding pouch and he doesn't crab at me and I can play with him at night through the bars and give him treats. He seems happy to see me when I come in the room when he's up. I'm kind of afraid to go any further. What should I do? I think I'm at the part where you sit and leave the pouch open in a glider proof room. I'm really afraid that he will come out and bit me or come out and I won't be able to get him back. I really don't know what to do from this point on. Help me!

i put my hand in and offer some yogurt on my knuckles (cos he cant bite too hard there) but make sure you top up after a few licks cos they are natural gnawers. keep carrying him round and offer him treats in the pouch stroke him in the pouch ect... im sure someone else will give you more in depth advice this is what im doing with my 3 atm. good luck glad alls going well!!

If I pet him while he's asleep when he's with me in the bonding pouch will he turn around and bite me? I'm mostly afraid of the biting part. I have him with me right now and I was in a glider proof room with the pouch opened on my lap but I was so afraid to pet him while he was sleeping.

he prob wont even realise your petting him do you stroke him on the outside of your pouch if so lower your hand in the pouch if he makes a noise keep it thier till he stops then pull it out keep trying this getting lower and lower each time till you can attually get your hand touching him then progress to stroking the bites not that bad just try not to flich cos that will soon be a game to him and he will always win !!! dont rush it take it at hes pace your doing great no one likes getting bit!!!

Give him a nice treat, using tweezers if you want, and when his month is full try stroking him.   Grin

You're making progress then?  That's great!!!

Try not to be afraid of the bite, but if you do think he's working around to it then just remove your hand!  The best way to cope with biting is just to avoid it!  They do give up trying eventually!  Smiley

Lol, unfortunately it's one of those things you have to expect with any animal really.  Even my Dinx has bitten and drawn blood on me twice!  Which I guess in 5 ... or is it 6 now years isn't toooooo bad!  I'm just dozy, my o/h Rich was holding one of my males while I was trimming his claws, concentrating ever so hard my little finger was sticking out, Rich said two or three times watch your finger, but nope!  I still got nailed  Grin

Give him time!  He'll soon realise you're not a tasty morsel!
