On Saturday we purchased 4 sugar gliders from a lady.  She gave us their cage, food that they were use too, and their pouch.  We have two females and two males with a joey on the way.   Since they have been living with us one of the males has been moving really slowly and he will sit on the floor of the cage, facing the corner by himself.  We do not believe he is getting picked on because one morning my boyfriend placed him in the empty pouch and he still ended up on the floor in a couple of hours.   Now he is the first one to the food every night so we know he is still eating just fine, but once he is down he wont go up and we have never seen him jump.  We did contact the lady we got them from and she says it is unusual behavior for him.  Any ideas what could be wrong?  Could he not see really well?

Hi welcome, what diet are they on?  Gliders rarely sit on the floor for long periods of time so that seems really strange.  Is he related to the other male?  Is one of the males neutered?  What are their ages?  How big is the cage?  Sorry need more info to know if we can help.  I would deff get him to a vet, if fact it would be worth them all being checked over.

He could be slow because he is cold, or it could be a dietary issue.  Are they all kept in the one cage?  It sounds to me like he could been kicked out of the colony, 2:2 isn't an ideal ratio, a co dominance is very rare, colonies should be female heavy.

Do you know what they were fed before you got them?  Have you changed the diet at all?

Yeah i'd get him off to a vet just for a quick check over.
It sounds like it could be anything...

Was this lady a reputable breeder at all?
My advice is always have animals checked by a vet either before you buy them or as soon as you get them.
If any breeders decline a vet check before you buy them then i wouldn't buy them to begin with.

But definately 2 males and 2 females is a no no!
