Elvis really needs to get some time out of his cage. Would it be ok if I took him out in his pouch about the time he is going to wake up and put him in a tent with me? We havn't gotten to the point where he will let me pick him up. The most I can do right now is pet him without him seeing but he's gotten a little better with that. I know I should probably wait untill I can at least pick him up but I really think we will be able to bond better in the tent. I personally beleive he will let me get closer to him while bonding in a tent. He really does need to get out of that cage. Do you all think this is a terrible idea? It's taking awhile for him to bond with me and I feel bad for leaving him that cage all night long.
I'm hoping you guys think this is an ok idea. Even if I don't start tent time now I would appreciate some advice on what toys to bring in the tent. He doesn't seem to be much of a toy guy.

Do that then . Just be aware though that IF you have to chase him to get him back in his pouch this COULD set the bonding process back further. So go in prepared with lots of treats which you can use to tempt him back in with

YEY! He's going to be so happy to get out of that cage! Do you know any good tricks on how to get him back in the pouch?

Try it, just make sure the tent is secure, Im sure it will help with the bonding as long as you dont chase/grab him to get him back in the pouch. Just put a treat in the pouch when you want him to go back in and hopefully eventually he will go in there on his own accord. Try taking some feathers in there and maybe hanging some rope and toys from the rooof the tent using safety pins.

As the pouch will be his 'safety zone', it shouldn't be a problem until he becomes more confident. You'll probably find he'll play for a bit and then nip back to the pouch. If not, put the pouch in front of him and he'll probably crawl in ... I say probably because they're all different and what works for one may not work for another.

I'll set the tent up tomorrow because I'm going to have to rearange the room to fit the tent. I've been cleaning elvis's cage all day so I didn't have time or the energy to set up that stupid tent we have. It's such a pain! He will be REALLY happy to get out!

Just don't be too disappointed if he pops out for 5 mins and goes back in again. If he's not confident it may take him a while to come out, but as his confidence increases he'll really enjoy tent time

Yep he may be reluctant to even come out of his pouch.
