Soo...this week we got given (as far as im aware) Jersey (channel island) only other glider...for free! lol he his about 2.5 years old and was part of a pair with his brother, who unfortunatly died about 8 months or so ago. He is now living in a cage in the same room as our existing 2 gliders. He is very quite but wasnt handled very much so is quite nervous of us and wee's on you as soon as he comes out his cage. Though genrally seems really healthy and his cage was cleaned every week.

He has always been fed on leadbeaters mix and snce we got him a couple of days ago have been trying him with the same fruit mix ours are on...with little success. So tonight we are going to try him with a fruit mix again, but mix in some of the leadbeaters mix that we were given with him.

He will eventually go in with our girls but not for a while yet. We are going to talk to the vets about neutering and then have a long hard think about whether we want to go through with it or give this a chance for them to breed maybe once before he is snipped.

and thats the latest news in our glider world lol any input welcomed as always Smiley

Wow!  How on earth did that come about?

Leadbeaters is of course very sugary and sweet so it's understandable that he doesn't want anything else, sounds like he'll need weaning off it!

It was a random phone call just seeing how things were going and such, when he just offered me Tommy. He had wanted to get another glider himself, but coming from Jersey it would have cost a bomb to get over to england and such to pic one up(we spent sooo much getting our pair!). He knows its for the best and thats how he found his way to us.

Hopfully it wont take to long to take him off of the leadbeaters, he likes the Iams though lol he picks them out of the fruit mix Smiley so im just going to mix a little leadbeaters in with the fruit and just hope for the best...we are so in love with gliders lol

yep - i weaned my first gliders off the leadbeaters by mixing in with the fruit mash and gradually decreasing the amount of leadbeaters mix over time.
