howdy, my question today is...whats the deal/what is a nesting box? i have done a few search's on the forum and cant seem to find any information on them apart from people talking about them using one.

In a couple of weeks time (if all goes well with introductions), we will be putting our male in the with with our females. I would like to see what happens with breeding (i know its still early days but in Jersey there isnt any choice really since there is no other gliders), if they are to breed what do i have to get ready? i am some what aware of diet change i.e. upping calcium and protein....but is there any thing else i need to do?

thanks alot, Ben

Hi Ben, a nesting box is simply a wooden nest box that you'd use for birdies.  I personally don't use them as they're wood (though you can get plastic I believe) which absorbs urine smells, and most gliders I found prefer pouches anyway, they're softer and warmer and cosier.   Smiley

For breeding you need to make sure they're kept stress free, if I were you I'd also have a hand rearing kit prepared just in case the worst happens and you end up hand rearing.

awsome, thanks for the advise...we have quite a few pouches (one being a fuzz buttz bunker) so im sure they will make good use of them instead and on your advise i will begin putting together a handrearing kit just incase...my mum has already offered to help handrearing during the day if it came down to it lol
