Last week my little girl Akasha passed away. She left Lestat behind and he is suffering emotionly. You can see it in his eyes when you look at him. I don't know what to do....
I have been playing with him alot and giving him alot of attention. It almost seems as if he is bonding with me closely now because he has no-one else. I dont know if i should get him another partner or if i should just pass him on to someone who introduce him to some new friends.

Any suggestions?Huh?

Glenn

She was around 6 years old so im guessing it was old age. There was nothing wrong with her at all. I took them both to the vet about 4 months ago for a check up and everything was fine. I just took Lestat to the vet last week as he has a small infection on his left ear at the moment. Nothing major though.
I might ask Marsupial if she is interested in taking him.

Six years isn't old age for a glider...  About middle age, actually.  Such a shame, though... Sad I hope your little guy perks up soon, but they do grieve hard sometimes...

After seeing your little animation of Lestat and his grape, could it be possible that Akasha died of renal failure?   Undecided

sorry to hear about your little one,

did she show any symptoms before she passed away, such as loss of appetite, lethargic, drop in body temperature (this only has to be a degree or two) tremors or bad motor skills, and could she pass urine

Well they say you learn something new everyday. I just threw out my grapes as i really didnt know that they cause renal failure. I feel so bad now.....
I only gave grapes to them as a treat not as part of their staple diet. But yes she was lathargic over the past few weeks and i assumed she was passing urine and faeces because it was always in the bottome of the inclosure all the time.

Thankyou for the advise people
I guess you can be be too careful.

Unfortunately, that is how most of us learn, myself included.  Don't feel too badly...  The dangers of grapes aren't publicized enough and so many people feed them to all sorts of critters never knowing what could happen.

I too used to feed mine grapes until I learnt about renal failure.   Sometimes I guess we have to learn the hard way but hopefully others will also learn from this and it may save another life including Lestat's.  Dont feel bad as like you say we learn something new everyday.
