Marsupial and myself went to the sanctuary yesterday. we were able to speak to one of the vets at the Animal Hospital and we asked why don't we feed yoghurt in the diet. He said that they never see any sickness's in their gliders so believe the diet doesn't need to be changed. He said they never see HP or any other sickness infact they don't get gliders in the clinic from the sancturay at all. The only gliders they see are wild ones injured by cars, cats or dogs. They have been breeding gliders at the sanctuary since the early 1960's.

Ahh, so it's not because it's dangerous for suggies, just that their diet works very well for them and doesn't need to be modified!  Excellent Smiley thanks Sue.  Is Marsupial Ko then?

Although the vet at the sanctuary said they didn't see the need to add yogurt to their diet other vets here and wildlife carers are sayng to us that they believe it upsets the natural bacteria in the gliders stomach and leads to long term problems. Will still investigate the problems believed with yogurt here and keep you informed.
