Sugar Lumps has set up this ongoing project to help sugar glider owners around the country identify the recommended veterinary surgeries in their area. This is more necessary for sugar gliders than many other animals, as they are fairly new to the UK pet market, and so it can be hard for owners to find vets who are confident and knowledgeable about treating these unique little animals. The knowlege that other glider owners have happily had their gliders treated in the same surgery can make a lot of difference to a worried owner.
Members of SL need to help make this happen - if you have had a good experience with a particular veterinary surgery, we need to know about it!
To add a surgery to the list, please post in the '
Veterinary Surgery Application' thread in this forum. You will need to post the following details about the surgery (Don't worry if you don't have them all);
- Location:
- Surgery name:
- Surgery address:
- Surgery phone number:
- Specific vet seen:
- Reasons for nominating:
The SL crew will then go about making sure the surgery staff don't mind having their name and details up on this forum, and also getting a list of prices for certain common procedures.
Finally, the veterinary surgery and its details will be added to the appropriate location thread (London, South, Southwest, Midlands, East, Yorkshire, North West, North, Wales or Scotland) and will help other glider owners locate a good vet for their suggies.
The 'Strike 5' RulePlease note - We ask that only POSITIVE reviews are given here. If you have anything negative to say about a certain veterinary practice, please PM a member of staff. We will then record the complaint, and take that into account if someone wishes to nominate that surgery.
We have a system known as the 'Strike 5 System', meaning that if we receive 5 seperate complaints about a certain surgery, that surgery is taken off the nominations list (if it is on it) and then 'blacklisted'. Other, non-listed surgeries are immediatley added to the 'blacklist'.
Members are, however, allowed to 'female dog' and moan as much as they like in Glider Gossip.
