Hello,

I was a little curious as what you breeders do. I know that if you sell a breeding pair of gliders, Of course they are related but would be mighty young... I prosume there is an age a glider shouldn't breed till they have passed, 10 months is what we use for cats?

My question, If you supplie a pair of gliders, How do you make sure they don't breed untill they have started there required breeding age?

Everyones opinions are welcome and loved,

Richy~

p.s I do think up some weird things and they make me so curious, I have to ask lol

Firstly Richy, most breeders would only sell UNrelated m/f pairs unless of course the male is neutered.   Tongue lol!

Gliders sexual maturity is a bit of a mystery, in the books it says 8 months - 1 year, I know of people who have gliders that have bred at 4 months OOP.  They reach maturity at different ages, I have a particular breeding pair who's male joeys have a bald spot (albeit a small one) at about 4 months OOP, and I have some that develop theirs alot later on.

Oh right, That told me Tongue Hahaha

I knew that they would develop at different ages.. I was just wondering when you would breed from them. For example, like cats they mature to about lets say, 4 months, They can reproduce at that age but it's not at all adviseable. We wait untill they are 10 months old.

What age do you find best to breed from you gliders? And what do you do, If you sell a pair as a unrelated non prove baby pair? Do you advice they are kept seprate? (Which I wouldn't think would be fair to keep gliders on there own)...

Just a curious mind here Tongue

Well, I think 6 months onwards really, but to be honest it doesn't always happen like that.  If someone buys an unrelated m/f pair I don't advise to keep them seperate.  There's no 'ideal' age that I'm aware of.
