Hello! Smiley
Ok,here we are.
That's the translation of the suggested diet in Italy.
There are not a lot of owners and employees of pet shops are not always really prepared  :mad ..
To approach the study of suggies I first read the readable  Grin in Italian...and now I passed to English (lot of material, of course).
I've already noticed some BIG mistakes in "our" diet...please, correct me if I'm wrong!

**

Everyday (evening): fruits (and veggies: less quantity than fruit) and insects (http://www.amiciinsoliti.it/cibovivo/Resized/camola5.jpg - sorry, can't find a proper translation in English!, moths, crickets,  grasshoppers, locusts, etc.). When you don't have insects you can substitute them with boiled eggs or griddled chicken .

Every other day: fruit juice (no sugar, no citrus fruit, ok pineapple or tropical-ACE-more than a fru juice).

Sometimes: fruit and chicken baby food (homogenized) , once a week Galleria mellonella (fat), a piece of bread (WHAAAAAT?), insectivors' food (http://www.gisaro.it/fotoart/8017204303402.jpg that's an example of brand).

Integrators: Reptimineral, cuttlefish bone ("dusted" on the food), Rep-cal, Arabic gum, wheat germ

Veggies: celery, carrot, some types of salade (UH?), fennel, potatoes (UH-UH??) and green beans (cooked)

Fruits: mango, papaya, pear (just a tiny peace), apple, red apple, bananas, figs, melon, pineapple, orange (not often...O my God..), strawberries, kiwi, pomegranate (not often), mandarin.

I'm still a profane, but...
aren't there too many integrators?
Bread and orange and mandarin Huh? UUHHH? Never read something good about this food!
Salade?
As you can read, CAT food is not even mentioned...
The most "scientific" owners use BML.

Please, tell me if my observations are right: that means that I'm learning  Roll Eyes Grin
Thank you very much for your attention!

You are very right...  I don't really understand the need for bread at all...  Huh Have a good look through the diets on here and decide what you think is best for you and your gliders (as diet is very controversial) and if you have any questions, let us know.  Our wonderful Tillie has some recipes already worked out for the calcium:phosphorus ratios stickied at the top of the diet section, as well Smiley

I asked for the "bread-topic" and the owners told me that is a treat ..  "just few grams...sometimes"  Shocked Shocked Lips sealed Fortunately the majority of owners don't give it!
Im studying the diets suggested here...tough decision to make  :Tongue
Thank you again!!

Ooooook, lets have a look Smiley

I do a 50/50 split of fruits and veggies, I used to feed more fruits but you need to remember that fruits contain a lot of sugar.  Veg has a lot of different minerals and less sugar.  Lots of people use live food, I prefer not to as it's not particularly nutritious, it's a personal choice though. I wouldn't feed what's in the link, it looks like it has nuts in it?  Nuts are ok as a treat.

Every other day: fruit juice (no sugar, no citrus fruit, ok pineapple or tropical-ACE-more than a fru juice).

Not necessary, fruit sugars and acids, if they get fresh water 24/7 they won't need fruit juice

I never give baby food - not the mush stuff nor the cereal, no need.

Integrators: Reptimineral, cuttlefish bone ("dusted" on the food), Rep-cal, Arabic gum, wheat germ

A mammal multivitamin is better than a reptile vitamin, the amount of calcium in some of them is way too high, D3 is usually high in reptile vitamins.  Cut out the cuttlefish - you already include a calcium supplement!!   Arabic gum AKA acacia gum - good!!!  Very good in fact, it's a complex carbohydrate.  Wheat germ - never fed it myself.

Veggies: celery, carrot, some types of salade (UH?), fennel, potatoes (UH-UH??) and green beans (cooked)

Snap peas, green beans, butternut squash, sweet potato, carrot.

Fruits: mango, papaya, pear (just a tiny peace), apple, red apple, bananas, figs, melon, pineapple, orange (not often...O my God..), strawberries, kiwi, pomegranate (not often), mandarin.

Don't feed things like orange, mandarin or pineapple too often, banana's I never feed, none of mine like them.  They're high in phosphorus, potassium and zinc too.

Salade?

Too much calcium definately, they need a multivitamin, mine get calcium 2-3 times a week, acacia gum is good though.

Cat food is not popular in America, they prefer high sugar diets like bml, we don't agree in the UK (well, most of us anyway), sugar is bad for teeth, gums, weight, blood sugar levels.  Just because they're called Sugar Gliders doesn't mean that's all they should eat!  lol

New questions:

1)I've been suggested by local owners to offer this product:
http://picnic.ciao.com/it/7921028.jpg
http://picnic.ciao.com/it/6352439.jpg

It's a fruit "mousse" by Melinda (the most famous brand of apples here).
Ingredients: fruit 100%, does not contain any type of chemical compound (preservative and colouring), total absence of added sugars, low calories content.

Available (the most common in supermarkets) with:
apple and peach (80% and 20%)
apple (100%)

Should it be safe or better avoid?

2) Arabic gum: we find powder arabic gum and the liquid one (used for découpage and stuff like that).
Ok, it's a silly question, I know: the liquid one is dangerous, right?

I'd say the liquid one best to avoid - would be good to see the ingrediants first.

the mousse thing - yeah, if it's 100% fruit can see of no reason not to give it.  No chemicals, no additives, just good stuff
