Right, got me thinking due to a post about my little family and a discussion with the lovely Amalthea :there there:
Questions for EVERYONE!
1. How long did you research prior to purchasing? 2. When did you get each of your babies?
To start us off this is my story
I was researching gliders for about 4 months before i took the plunge. Originally i'd seen a couple advertised on pre-loved and that sparked my interest in them.
I got Sugar and Spice (adult brothers) in around May 2007 from a non SL member.
In August 2007 i got Gizmo, Zena and Shyler (all unrealted adults) from a fellow SL member. (which is how i got onto this forum)
I picked up Eos (bambino) from Marie in around November/December 2007
Eden (bambino) came to stay in around about Jan 2008 from LouLou
Ely came Oop in June 2008, bambino of Shyler and Gizmo.
Soooooooooooooo, whats your story.

Well, let's see... I believe I saw my first glider on a tv program when I was about 9 and started looking into them the next day. Was hooked!! I got my first ever glider, Sugar, for Christmas when I was 10. Yes she was an only glider, but I have learned so much since then!!! She originally belonged to my brother's babysitter, but then decided gliders weren't for her and Santa went and got her for me... After we opened all of our presents, my brother and I each had a tiny one on the train that went around our tree each year... Opened them and inside was a note from Santa saying that we had been extra specially good that year, so we had an extra special present awaiting each of us downstairs. Ben's was a bike (I wrapped it the night before)... Mine was a big cage with a bow on it... I thought it was the cage for the gliders I was saving for (nearly had enough, too) until I went up to it, and it started crabbing. I burst into tears and ran to my parents thanking them. I am so glad Ben was preoccupied with his bike or else he would have noticed I was thanking our parents for something from Santa. Then Candy came along not long after my 11th Birthday (she was a baby... a friend of mine bred them). Then Flower needed a home and my parents brought her home (but I can't remember how long after Candy came that was). They got Cotton (my first male) for me for another Christmas while I was in texas visiting my grandparents. The night I came home (they hadn't told me), I went to my gliders to feed them and there was a new face. *lol* Belle was my first baby born... She was thrown from Flower's pouch too young and ended up with brain problems and didn't grow properly. Then when I moved here, Gary found an ad in the paper for two boys with their cage for £180. We went to see them and the woman had their aviary next to a cage of barn owls and was feeding them rat food. So, Rocky and Gizmo came home. Gizmo succombed to his poor start within a year. Then about 6 years ago, we brought home Mama and her sister. This was before we knew about grapes and we thinks Mama's sister ended up dying of renal failure Now I have Mama and Tink (her daughter)

I am not really sure how Ray got into gliders, he did get into gliders before i did and he is the reason I am so glider mad, when i met Ray I also met his single glider Eccles (long story was let down by scales and tails for a female AFTER calling to reserve a female and driving all the way there from Devon). Anyway I thought Eccles was sweet although Eccles really didnt trust me,
I started doing some reading of my own, as I lived about 200 miles from Ray and coudl only see him at weekends so had little to do in the evenings, I think I researched for about 6 months solid. I hated the American forums so never joined till later bur I did grab as much info as I could from the tiny amount of wild info found on the net. I was due to move to rays about 4 years ago and picked up Nikki (after searching for agesssssss) for Eccles and Ray, Eccles and Nikkis introduction was easy and then wham I became a glider keeper.
Later down the line I picked up a few more gliders from various people, one breeder I will never buy from again as his glider was not weened when she came to me, one of mine is a rehome and hes a lovely lad but research into his background makes me think he was originally an import.
I have been keeping gliders now for about 4 years

I researched sugar gliders for about 6 months and cared for my old land lady's for about 3 months before I had mine
I have two sugar gliders, named Sid and Skye. They are both unrelated but only a weeks diff in OOP date.
Love them both to bits and have cared for sugar gliders for a whole year now! (that includes caring for my landlady's)

I first discovered them in 2006, I was offered a Joey, but knew nothing about them and didn't really have the room, but I'd fallen in love with them by then! My house was extended and we reorganised everything I was still reading about them and had decided I would like a couple, then January this year I found my two wub I can't believe it's almost been a year already! Where has the time gone I currently have 6, Rocky and Bruce were just OOP when I bought Blade and Ripley, Bilbo and Frodo were OOP in May and are waiting for their lovely new family to collect them

Gliders ... ? Oh, those fluffy flying things that have taken over my life!!!!
Had them 4 years, spent a year chatting to Marie and leeching all her knowledge (you should've seen her, she looked like a prune after I'd finished with her!!!) before getting some off Marie.
