you thinking of throwing in the towel?  Marie.  I think that would be a crying shame and a loss to the glider community.  Honestly.  Yes, Gliders are becoming ever popular, yes, as a breeder you need to weigh up the desire to produce good quality babies with the ethical debate about whether to breed or not.  It aint an easy choice, HOWEVER, if you're reason for no longer wanting to breed is because of this then i think you would be stopping breeding for the wrong reason (in your case).  If anyone checks and double checks potential new owners its you, yeah, you're not always gonne get it 100% right but to lose you as a breeder will be a blow to all those potential GOOD owners out there.

I don't particularly want more at the moment, but I sure do miss babies... The noises the parents make when there are ittle ones on the way is so heart warming!!!

i think my mam first seen them in the exotic pet shop where i used to work (this is before i worked there) about 5 years ago.

she bought 2, Fed and Wilma unrelated. Suspected to be wild caught.

they had twins, 2 girls or 2 boys, and we swapped on of them with another breeder who had the same sex babies but opposite to us (if yu follow what i mean!)

they were called pebbles and bam bam.

fred and wilma then had holly i believe, or maybe it was pebbles and bam bam??

then the had another set of twins, Moonshine && Dweezil.

Pebbles && Bam Bam got swapped for the first APH, then Fred and Wilma i believe went to a zoo coz they were too wild to handle.

A sugar glider had been abandoned in Ashington and handed into the pet shop, and he rang my mam asking if she had a spare glider. The glider was male, so Moonshine went to keep him company. got another APH for the swap, but she died.

Was then left with Holly Berry and Dweezil.

Dweezil and Holly never reproduced and Dweezil went to jesus about 2 - 3 months ago.

my mam and dad went on holiday about 3 weeks ago, and i was originally meant to be looking after holly, but after talks with my mam, im keeping her. (i cant give her back! lol)
we decided it was best her be with me as i would pay more attention to her so it be better for her as she by herself and i would make sure she complatly happy.

Gettin 2 new gliders i believe in October/November time to keep her company!

I haven't taken the plunge yet.. I've been researching properly for just over a month.
I've known of their existance for a few years, but thought they weren't very common - which has it's drawbacks when it comes to vets, advice etc.

I live in manchester and have a very good veterinary practice called Ashleigh based in Chorlton.
The specialise in exotics. I'm gonna confirm with them that they can deal with suggies.

Surprisingly, I've just come accross this forum which has been a great help!
The internet has been very useful and youtube has little training 'bites' on what to feed, drawbacks etc (infact the little suggie peed on the lady's top when she was talking about bladder control!).

When i am ready, i'll look into purchasing a pair, at the moment i've found an indoor aviary and I will defo be using Shropshire exotics for suppliments/accessories  Grin.

Thanks  :Tongue, I want to make sure i have everything i need ans don't get any nasty surprises when i bring them home.

I did notice on a different thred, someone talking about having their suggies with their hedgehog... would that be alright?!?

I have a little lad, although he really hates strangers and will only really tolerate me after he's had his bath and i let him run around in his (rat sized) ball.

He tends to poo all over his wheel, so i'm not sure about keeping the suggies and hog togather. I was assuming that i was going to keep them apart, although all in the same cage would save space and the need for an addtional wheel - although i was considering going for silent wheels for both suggies and Sprocket (Hedgehog).

Sprocket loves his 3am run, so a quiter wheel is a definate positive!

That is me that has the hedgie with the gliders.  It works for mine, but I wouldn't advise anybody that it will work for their's.  All animals are different, and mine just get along. Smiley Also, you'd need an even bigger cage if you had your Sprocket (I have a rat named Sprocket) in with the gliders, as most of the aviaries people use have a smaller floorspace.

Maybe make a post in the introduction section, so everybody can welcome ya to the forum Wink

Thanks! I'll keep Sprocket in his cage.
Thinking about it, the aviary has a mesh base so it wouldn't be completely ideal for him anyway.

howdy...i first saw gliders about 2 years ago and always thought they were very cool and since then did abit of research on them now and then, untill i decided i was very much interested in them and had the time and money to keep them. Then it was about 6 months heavy research, via books and the internet. I spent alot of money (think the setup+toys, travel and gliders came to around £1000) and time getting my first 2 girls about 4 or 5 months ago and within 2 weeks of getting them back, was given a boy called Tommy because his brother had passed away about 8-10 months before. Soooo now we have 3 gliders who all live happily together and seem to enjoi play time/any time with me lol. Oh also we have 3 gliders in pouch! 1 girl has 1 and the other has 2! i cant wait for the babies Smiley i have a loving home lined up for them too and since he has a friend he will also have an ongoing aftercare service lol
