Hi, my pair of gliders appear to be pregnant again - the familiar peanut in the pouch look - which is not a problem, but their son who is just six months old is still currently living with them (he is due to be castrated on monday! - Really hoping he is not the dad!- Don't know how common incest is in these guys? - Or if that has major consequences?) so my question is will it cause any problems with him still being there - such as cannibalism or rejection?

Also - what supplies should I have on standby - I know about replacement milk (is lactol or whelpi ok?) also somewhere to keep a joey warm - but is there anything else I should have in my kit?

Thanks

check out here for info on handrearing a joey - helps to have the basics of this kit around just in case

as for sexual maturity, if he is 6-months old then the baby is unlikely to be his (wait for some of the more experianced glider owners to confirm that though)

Hey there, has little one started to get the scent gland on his head and chest yet?

Yes he has, that was another reason I was worried, he seems to be quite advanced for his age from what I've read!

It would be unusual for a submissive male to mate with the female, so the chances are strongly in favor of dad being the dad!

And don't worry about the older joey, he will muck in and help with the raising of the joey.

Thank you, you guys are all so helpful!  Smiley It puts my mind at rest! And what amazing creatures to help out with the baby! Though I guess it does make very good evolutionary sense!
