It would be nice if we could save them all, but sadly there is always going to bastards out there that are just in it for the money I've always said people should have licences for any animal, exotic or not. I think with the way the worlds going they should do one for kids too!

That could work? One of my ebay buddies managed toset up a missionfish account for a scouts group, I could bend her ear and see if we could do it globally for Suggies, then set it up so it goes to a trusted member here who would then divide it between members who rescue, or buy supplies for members that rescue... Or am I being naive? I do think it's possible, and after recent events can see it's needed. I don't have the Glider expertise some of you have, but I can push and promote as much as needed I think between us all we could do it

people should have licences IMO that would just push the dodgy sales further underground Look at puppy farms etc

That would be good I'll have a poke about tomorrow see if I can find any info that'll help I've only been around 5 minutes in relative terms and the amount for sale is growing at an alarming rate compared to when I was looking for my little guys last year:(

Same here, when I was looking for suggies 2 years ago, I found it hard to find many at all! It's all the damn newspapers fault! :steam:
People make it too easy to hate the human race.

Hmmm, one of us could set up a paypal account I suppose, but it leaves us wide open for theft accusations etc, Lou is an accountant, maybe she knows of a better way? And how would we decide who money should go to? And how would we know for sure that someone is being straight with us and not lying about their circumstances? We've all seen recently how people can lie easily and persistently.

Usually they get caught up in their own lies eventually, though... But I don't think money should be able to go to just anybody, of course.

Usually yes, but by then they might have just made off with some money stealing it not only from us but from poor suggies that might have needed it!

I have a better idea, its not really finances people need, I take in rehomed animals alot and I know Marie does too and what I always need more than most is a food supply, cage, equipment etc. I do think the best thing that could be done is the approved team having a chat and discussing rescues as alot of us do it anyway and seeing what the rest of the site think, that way no money changes hands so no one is left open to abuse, and we can set up some sort of rescue board that approved rescue centres have access to so when you know they have a new glider/s you can get in touch with them personally if there is anythign you want to donate.
Just a thought we can bounce our ideas about a bit
