So very true!!  They had a right time of it (and still are, really)...

Have a look for a thread about "Phil's dodgy leg", SM Smiley

No just not well looked after by the people before Helen got them!  Within a month poor Phil had broke his leg!

Phil came to stay with me and broke his tail which then got infected and had to be cut off - those poor gliders really do suffer with their health and poor old Hday has spent a firtune on them since she got them.

aww i read it! the poor little things.

now im slightly worried because my gliders dont see alot of sunlight as their cage is in a room with no window, they get artificial light for 3 - 4 hours of the day, then they out all night. (currrently pooing on my hand!)

they get their vitamin powder every day, but im worried now incase they not getting enough d3.

all animals need some light for sure.  Dont know if artificial lights would give them what they need but i'll assume that they would as they're designed to be used for reptiles and the like.  Probably would be ok perhaps

hmm, i might see if i can persuade the OH to let me move the guys. i just get worried about having them not in that room because the flat is quite drafty most of the time.

in that room, there is no draft from the shit fitting windows and the boiler in there too.

Only the UV lights would 'give' them the D3, that's from natural sunlight and from UV lights, not ordinary lighting.  But remember they are nocturnal so how much would they get in the wild?  The main reason I say they should have natural light is so they have a day/night cycle, imagine if you lived in constant daylight.  Smiley

you see, thats what i thought coz they would be hidden during the day as dark as they can.

i was worried about day and night cycle too, so i turn the light on for 5 hours a day now with the winter, then at night, they spend about 4 hours in the living room with me.

so should i put a UV bulb in, or will the vitamin powder be sufficient do you think?
