Does galvanized wire really cause UTI's in suggies? I've read that the pee reacts with the zinc in the galvanized stuff and causes UTI's.

According to the US forums it does.  I've never seen any 'evidence' of this though, I know one of the mods questioned it not so long ago and she doesn't think it's true!

All I can think is that when the urine gets on to the wire it oxidises and a white powdery stuff is produced, as gliders pee they often rub their cloaca on something (the wire), and maybe this white powdery stuff gets in to the cloaca and causes irritation?
