Shocking!!!

I've not been around much over the last few weeks so I've missed all of the drama!!!  Which I have to say I'm glad about really else those of you that know me will know that I just can't keep my big mouth shut!!! 

Firstly for all you newbies reading around the forum and this post please be assured that this is a friendly and very helpful forum to those who want it!  There is no clique, sure everyone gets along and some of us have made some really good friendships out of it, but it depends on what you want from a site!  If you want friendship as well as honest opinions, good advice and experience then you've come to the right place.  If you just want the advice, experience and opinions then you've still come to the right place.

So, now to why I've put this post in the ethics section ... the severe LACK of them in some of our (now ex) members!!!!

Having read through recent posts and having seen these same people on other forums I can honestly say they appear to care about one thing ... money!!! 

Why would someone go against 3 seperate experienced people's advice?  After owning gliders for less than a year, what makes them think they know so much more than those who have kept suggies for years and years and years??  And then have the audacity to turn round and call them names!!!???     All I can come up with is a complete LACK of any ethics!  Lets face it, Gliders are (according to the papers) the next 'in' pet!  So, lots of money to be made?  NOPE - I have news for you, there's NO money to be made in breeding gliders!!!  Oh, and funnily enough the same ex members seem to own APHs too .... the LAST 'IN' pet!  What a coincidence!!!

And then what happens?  They storm off in a strop because the advice given doesn't fit in with their plans!!!!  Well this is what happens when the UNETHICAL meet the ETHICAL! 

These people have really annoyed me to be honest!  All they want to do is breed, they're full of 'oh aren't I wonderful' bullsh*t, and tell nothing but lies, lies and more lies!!! 

Anyway, rant over ... for now!

I would just like to say, these are the opinions of ME - TRACEY, nothing to do with anyone else on the forum or the forum itself!!

She's only saying what we're all thinking ... it is frustrating when a completely inexperienced person comes on to the forum hell bent on breeding!  It's not our fault that they don't like what we tell them, if they didn't want the advice then why ask?

I can't believe that people would ask for advise and take such offence. Surely we are all here in the best interests of our animals and if you are doing something wrong we are here to give advice/be told what we are doing wrong and should take it on board! Even if you do not like being told what to do!  

And I always feel that any opinions are given in the nicest way possible.

Thanks folks, I have to admit I did pause before posting it as I wasn't sure whether I should or not!

But just to clarify - I'm NOT saying everyone that owns APH's AND Suggies are only interested in money - not at all!  There are many APH breeders that do also breed suggies in an ethical manner

the difference between an ethical and an unethical breeder or keeper is the ethicals are willing to take on advise, even when they recieve advise that isnt particulary helpful to their plans.

for instance, say i wanted to breed (which is impossible btw as all my lads are ball-less), i would take on the advise of the more experienced, not because they dont WANT me to breed, but because they feel i am not ready. No matter how ready i feel, if i could proove to the more experienced, i would wait. my suggies health is way more inportant then little cute looking babies.

this is the difference between ethical and non, and also responsible and irresponsible.

just to clarify, i have NO interest in breeding!

you've got to be in the right position to breed, and your gliders need to be in the right position to breed, the other bit for me is just cos you and they are capable of successfully breeding it doesn't mean you should breed. For me its about wanting to prevent unwanted gliders ending up in rescues.

No its not just you, and I think my opinion on the matter has been made very clear on a couple of other forums so I do not have to be all diplomatic anymore, anyone that uses RFUK will know what i think of a said ex member now anyway.

Must say though Tracey you were very very polite I was shocked
