Hey Val!  I remember meeting you in Detroit, and I TOTALLY remember little Jackie Chan, and the wonderful progress that he has made with you.  You are truly a very dedicated glider momma.

Now, I *HAVE TO* compliment you on his safe house!  I hadn't seen such a thing before today, and I have to say, WELL DONE.  I have had a series of glider issues here at the house, and I needed a temp cage, and I did have something like that in mind.  I ended up using a pop-up dog crate for Victor, but I think you have a nice cage.

I have not been on the site much and just found these posts and pics.

All of you who have helped rescue gliders or come to that any other animal are AMAZING.  From the bottom of my heart I thank you.

Its good to know that there are people around with great compassion to help counteract those who have caused such pain.

Thanks again

Al

Thank you for the encouragement.  It means a lot to hear something good.  Seeing these gliders come in and heal means the world to me, and I know I can speak for Val on this, too.  One thing I want to stress is that everyone can help rescues by educating other owners or those thinking about becoming an owner.  So many of the gliders who come to our rescue homes come there out of ignorance (not trying to be unkind).  Too many folks rush to get gliders because they're cute and they don't take time to research and get proper information on what is required for proper care.  By educating, I hope we can prevent so much suffering.

OMG, I don't even own these beauties yet but I have just spent the last half an hour reading the posts and looking at the pictures in floods of tears! I don't understand how ANY human being can just stand by and let this happen, for example on friday one of my chicks was off of her food and seemed to be gagging! I was straight on the phone to the vets and got the problem sorted. What is it with these sick twisted lazy people? If you cant afford the upkeep DONT bother getting ANY animal.

Right I am now off of my soap box, sorry for the rant

Can i just ask was anyone prosecuted for this? I realise it might be different abroad but it seems sever enought that at least  aban on keeping animals is warranted in such a sever case. In the UK  a woman dropped a cat in a wheelie bin in a moment of utter madness (cat was fine) and she became pretty much one of the most hated figures of 2010. Getting some perspective this is truly shocking. We take our hats off to you for your great work. Wink

This is the reason I want my sanctuary for gliders! It upsets me so much seeing poor little creatures like this Sad Good for you for rescuing these little ones I can't think what state they'd be in if they went anywhere else x

omg i am so sad looking at these pictures and stories and so angry at the owners that let them down....  Cry
Would a rescue glider needing a home be suitable to introduce to my Tilly ?? I would be helping another glider by doing this instead??

It's entirely possible.  I don't know how many rescue gliders you have in the UK, but we have way too many who need good, loving homes in the US.  Sad
