Hi all!  My name is Val and I am a rescuer living in Texas.  I am mom to some of the most amazing gliders and I love learning more about them.  I focus primarily on health and my rescue is largely populated by unique and severe medical issues.  I like to call myself a rehabiliation home rather than a rescue home.   Grin

I really look forward to getting to know y'all and to learning a bit along the way.

Welcome, Val. SGF is a very friendly forum where lots of the members know each other and have a variety of animals - reptiles, amphibians, skunks to name a few.

We are Yanks here (which Texans never are at home lol)!

Hi Val!  Welcome to SGF, it's so great to have a few experienced resucers on here, between you and Kate I'm sure you will make a hugely positive contribution to the site.  We have so far had a few rescues but most of the issues have been diet related, Kate posted some pics of some of her rescues and so far we've not had anything on that scale.  But it's good to be prepared!

As Dee has said, we're all really good friends on here, I suppose that's the plus side of a relatively small forum, we keep discussions civil (Lol - very British  Grin) so you won't be slammed for any diet decision you make or suggest.

we keep discussions civil? thats not what I heard *whistles*

anyway welcome to the forum Val I am sure you will find it quite refreshing, we are at the early stages here where as Marie says theres not too many rescues or rehomes atm but it is starting, we are lucky in we do not have mill breeders here yet and hopefully never will either.

We are civil, we just don't tolerate people that aren't willing to take advice, or just completely ignore advice and then ask for MORE advice when what they have done backfires!!!  And then there are those that want suggies purely to breed from and make money, and again, instead of following advice on things like ohhhhh I don't know, introductions just go and do what's quickest (for them to make money).

Jeeeeeebus ... I've JUST watched a Cadbury's Cream Egg advert!!!!  IT's JANUARY for smegs sake!!!   Shocked

I am in the very tippy top of the panhandle of Texas - near Amarillo and far away from anything else.  LOL

Rescue work is hard here in the U.S. and only getting harder.  I, too, hope you guys can stay far away from most of what we see here.  I dream of living in a place where there are no mill breeders.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Never been that far north in TX...  I am a Washingtonian, though, and haven't been many places in Texas...  The heat kills me! *lol* Smiley (well, I wasn't born there, but it's where I consider "home").
