My local Pet Shop has had a pair of gliders for sale at £375.

They have been in there since January and never sold. They are in a small room with all the other animals. Their shelter varies from cardboard boxes, plastics igloos and whatever else they can find in store. The cage also varies from a ferplast Aviary to a tall chipmunk cage.
They finally appear to at least have cat biscuits in there - originally all they had was hamster food. I have never seen any traces of insects in there.
They have a glider pet shop shop book attached to the cage.

It worries me. they are not an exotics shop and don't stock all the things I like to buy for the Chinchillas. They seem to be branching out into exotics but they don't sell any of the items required to correctly keep these pets. They also had Richardson's ground squirrels at £600 each for a few months but I assume they went back to the breeder as none of them seemed to be sold.

RGS's for HOW MUCH!!!!!!  You wouldn't be talking about 2 by 2 by any chance would you?  If so they have improved the suggies living conditions and diet!  I know there have been a numbe of complaints made to the RSPCA about them.

hello im new here,
and im planning to get 2 sugar gliders in october after our house has been built and is glider safe and comfortable.
i was researching sugar gliders yet again last night (im just so obsessed with them i cant get enough!) and i stumbled across a lady who wanted sugar gliders to sell in her new pet shop along with other exotic animals.
i thought about this for a while and wondered what if this person doesnt know a thing about them? feeds them rabbit food? keeps them in a cage the size of a small fish tank ? and doesnt give them any attention in the evenings? so i thought id email her and ask her what she knows about them, give her some advice maybe? so i asked her if she would be willing to stay up all night in the pet shop to give attention to these cute little critters! i told her that im just a concerned person and that i think she should do lots of research and if she has already then just ignore me.
i dont know if ive done the right thing or not i mean im no expert or vet i just love animals and i hate seeing them in bad conditions it breaks my heart.. my achy breaky heart.

Hi Alzy, welcome to Suggie Lumps, you're in the right place, we're all completely obsessesed too!  lol.

Hopefully you've given the pet shop lady something to think about.  I have a booklet (well it's 13 pages long) that you can email to her if you like.  It's what I give out to people that email me asking for advice (most of it is actually in the pinned topics on here though!), it contains details about housing, socialisation, diet etc.  Everything except breeding, I'm working on that section at the minute Smiley.

Marie, Yep, it's two by two. It makes me so sad to see them, I really wish I could save them, but it would make things worse. They are a terrible Pet Shop in terms of the animals conditions and have scrapped most of their fish in favour of exotic reptiles, such as Chameleons - several species of.

Report them to the RSPCA, they've already received a number of complaints so the more the better!!!
