The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, are currently researching what people's experiences are of keeping Sugar Gliders. The aim of the research is to discover how we keep our gliders in captivity, the drawbacks, what works and what doesn't so they can use this information to inform and educate current owners, prospective owners; and also (though this won't apply to the UK) legislative bodies that manage Sugar Glider populations in the wild and in captivity. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to contribute to the 'future of Sugar Gliders'. As we're all love them to bits, I'm sure you'll all want to help . All you need to do is complete a small questionnaire here - http://www.gliders.science.unsw.edu.au/survey.htmAnd you can read about the research here - http://www.gliders.science.unsw.edu.au/UNSW_Gliders will join in on the thread if you have any questions regarding the research and questionnaire.

I was just reading through the research, the diet is particularly interesting. Here in the UK we're not too far away from the recommendations, we tend to use commercially available nectar drinks like Gliderade a couple or 3 times a week rather than mixing our own. Dry cat food is the main protein source, some of us use bee pollen too. Our fruit and veg mixes don't contain grapes, sultanas or raisins though. The ASPCA have found them to be toxic and our very own Lou and RaY sadly lost 2 of their skunks, the vet confirmed their binge on grapes was the cause . I also know of meerkats and parrots that have all died as a result of eating grapes. I'm sure I read on GC that it has been confirmed some glider deaths have been associated to grapes also.

i will voach for suggie deaths with grapes.
i thought Dweezil may have died of HLP, but he had diarrahea too for ages. When i read Lou and RAys skunks symptoms, they matched perfectly.
Burt we will never know for sure as an autopsy was never done, but im willing to bet on it.

Adrian, about how long should it be after we submit an email address before the survey arrives in our inbox?

Completed my questionnaire! It was fast, easy. They ask if any glider has ever escaped. I thought that meant into the outdoors.
Easy and fast to complete.

Hi Everyone! When you submit your email there will be a delay before you get the email with the link to the questionnaire. This is the result of a step that has to be done manually. However, I am checking this at least once everyday, although I am trying to do it more often. If after 24 hours you haven't recieved the email, email me at gliders@unsw.edu.au and I will get it fixed up. Thanks, Adrian

I did mine first Though, the escape question I took as just escaped out of cage - not outdoors! I've never lost one outside! That would be awful!
