Hiya
I will be ordering a bulk order of food and any vitamins and calcium I need before I get my gliders (6+ months time)
I was wondering what is better
monkey biscuits, but broken up so its smaller pieces, orange or original flavour?
or 'premium sugar glider diet pellets'
http://www.sugar-glider-store.com/premium-sugar-glider-diet-3-l.html

Dose any one here use either of these as a day time? (changed every 24 hours so they always have something Cheesy )

I am looking at feeding a mix of fruit and veg (all glider safe)
and a modified leadbeaters mix I have found online, as the original is awkward for me and this version is no problem.
found at http://www.sugarglider.com/archives/ruth/diet.html

Treats now and then, and crickets, as I also have crested geckos so plenty of crickets about.

Dose this sound like a safe and suitable diet? if not what changes should be made?

Thank you for your help!

I'd stay away from monkey bisquits AND leadbeaters, actually....  Those are both diet bits that were popular in the US, but even many American glider keepers are turning away from it now.  Bugs should be a treat, because of their low nutritional value.

Here's a good diet plan:

And fruit/veg mush recipes worked out for ya:

Just went through both links you gave me,
If I make 2 or 3 of the mixes you have suggested, freeze in cubes, then change every day-other day along with the vitamin and nutiant plan woult that be suitable?

Thank you ever so much for your help Amalthea!
I was worried I wouldnt give them what they need without the leadbeaters.

Leadbeaters is very high in sugar, it's main ingredient being honey. If you look at many US suggies fed on that diet they're obese, or 'fluffy' as the Americans put it! The high sugar content can cause rotten teeth, diabetes and also leaves fatty deposits on the liver (they have found this through necropsies). Also, if fed a good diet they don't need calcium on a daily basis, it's just as bad giving too much calcium as not enough, you cannot choose to give calcium just 2-3 times a week if you use Leadbeaters.

Hi Marie!

I always thought it was abit high but honey is natural.
Ild rather use the plans on this site, I think as most sugar glider sites are american, 90% had the leadbeaters.

I will use the Iams and fruit with the suppliments on the days listed in the link above, I feel this is much safer.

Thank you both for your help!

Glad the site is proving helpful Smiley I tend to just make one batch of one mix and then when that is finished, make them a different mix Smiley You'll find each suggie prefers different mixes, too *lol* Mine LOVE anything with pomegranite in it Smiley
