This may be a silly question, but if gliders don't need vaccinations, then why aren't they allowed to leave Australia? They're not endangered at all, far from it. It seems a shame because i've seen such beautiful variations over there. My friend has three white faced and white tailed gliders, but i don't believe she got them over here. It's possible she snuck them in through her bra! lol!

All exports from Australia were banned over 50 years ago because the wildlife was being stripped.  It's not just gliders it's everything.

They did and thats why we have millions of budgies and beardies to name a few. The common animals they did let out we took waay to many, which is why they stopped it.

She does! I'm going to try and get her on here! Wink Hers are VERY tame and VERY bonded, they go everywhere she goes, even without a pouch! I'm considering once i get my little ones bonded to go and visit her, and have a sort of glider party (if they get along!).

We should have more sugar gliders from over there then! Bah!

She "snuck them in" so to speak lol. Back when plane travel wasn't so madly controlled. They do look lovely though. I actually thought all of them looked like that until i realised we don't really have that breed over here. Such a shame!

I'll speak to her and see if i can get any pictures!  Grin

From Australia actually. Not that i condone sneaking them in!  nope

She went over there visiting relatives, and they had had a pair ready to be taken away from the nest, and she popped em down her top! Lol! She had a couple of weeks to get them used to her so they wouldn't crab on the way back. Can you imagine going through customs with your breasts crabbing?! Haha!

I will speak to her as soon as i can! Tongue I don't think they look any bigger than normal gliders, but maybe they've grown since i last saw them!

That's quite shocking actually!  She smuggled them, and had she have been caught the gliders would have been taken and destroyed!  They should have been quarantined for 6 months, she also ran the risk of a hefty fine!

Glad she got them through though, don't get me wrong.  Smiley

although i am happy of the fact there seems to be coloureds in the UK, i agree with Marie. Apart from the things Marie mentioned, they could also have brought in nasty viruses and diseases. I dont condone smuggling at all.
