From Australia actually. Not that i condone sneaking them in! nope She went over there visiting relatives, and they had had a pair ready to be taken away from the nest, and she popped em down her top! Lol! She had a couple of weeks to get them used to her so they wouldn't crab on the way back. Can you imagine going through customs with your breasts crabbing?! Haha! I will speak to her as soon as i can! I don't think they look any bigger than normal gliders, but maybe they've grown since i last saw them! Well I am guessing this is a bit of a fib. Despite the fact, its approx a 22 hour flight from Aus and the fact three gliders (or is it two..the amount mentioned varies) are not going to survive that time down someone's bra front without food, water, going to the toilet or moving round as well as get past the xray machines ...the simple fact, is we don't have white faced gliders here. Also the chances of knowing someone who has them as pets here would be almost unbelievable. 90% of australians wouldnt know what a sugar glider was, let own one. A recent survey conducted on sugar glider ownership in the Vic Marsupial Society showed 53 gliders owned by members...not many when you consider 21 of that number are my own gliders!!

I'd be very interested to see piccies! Also though - Aussie gliders are larger than our gliders. Aussie breviceps don't look that different to the ones we get, slightly different colour, maybe a little bit bigger. They had some at Rotterdam zoo until a few years ago. There were some more around at the time, but very few. I wonder what happened to them. BTW if I remember correctly the export of most Aussie wildlife was stopped in the 70's, so not quite yet 50 years ago And it is not completely closed, because aside from smuggling, animals do arrive here from time to time. There are some possibilities for non-commercial export. I wish we could get some of the larger glider species. Or the very tiny feathertails.

Look at the pictures of Aussie gliders - they look completely different to ours. I'm sure I read somewhere it was 50 years ago ... I'm just trying to find it now!

Aussie gliders do look completely different to our pet gliders here in the UK and in the US. Not just color, but shape, too.

what do you mean by coloured gliders? It does help to use scientific names, because there are quite a few glider species in Australia. yellow bellies, yummy

I am referring to sugar gliders sorry when I meant coloured.
You should see the wonderful colours the Greater glider comes in... from white to black and shades in between...they are the most magnificent of all gliders to me.

The Greater Gliders are amazing, unfortunately though I've only seen them in pictures . I love the squirrel gliders too. Coloured gliders = leucistic, WFB, mosaic etc etc, not a different species to out suggies just a different colour!
