hi

i was in a pet shop the other day and was ear wiggin a convo 2 people where having talking about getting chins and things from this place so i got curious and had a noisey...

Huh what is this place like a rodent version of a puppy farm whole saling animals without actally providing in-depth or adaquet info on them heres a lil snip from the glider care sheet:

Diet:   Sugar Gliders are omnivores so require insects as their main diet with a mixture of seeds and fruit.  Occasional yoghurt and tinned fruit cocktail in syrup is a favourite as they have a very sweet tooth!  In captivity pellets are available providing a balanced Sugar Glider feed. the rest wasnt to far off but just wondering do pet shops then look at this and go o thats easy and get them in?

and then sell them with even less info on the glider

Mmmmm, and the rest!  Put it this way, I wouldn't buy a tub of crickets from them (not that they sell crickets but I'm just making a point).

They sell wholesale to the trade, not to private people.  So whether the person that ends up buying the animals has researched or not SR are really not concerned about that.

and the fact that his gliders are pretty much wild. no handling at all.

it made me laff the other day actually. i was flicking through his stocklist, and he had a picture of a glider in his book with the most pathetic looking tail i have ever seen. it was like a degu tail! i thought, if you are going to pretend you are a good supplier, at least put healthy animals on your pics.

And SO MANY shops buy from SR, as well...  When I was working at the last pet shop, I refused to buy off them and I found another wholesaler that I was happier with.

Simons Rodents don't breed the majority of their "stock" it's imported from a rodent farm in Holland, I know because I've been there  Wink
