Great informative thread this was for me for me.
Rhianna you mentioned you looked after ur mam was on holiday. Im assuming you live in difference houses. Did you take the gliders in a smaller cage short term or take their main cage to yours.
Have been thinking today, obviously 'What If' questions. What if you do decide to have a Week holiday away from your home. even if you have someone willing to take care of them, how would you go about this. move there whole cage-familiar environment to a new place? also with new people it would be hard to let them out of a cage for attention wouldn't it if they arent bonded to that person yet

Yeah we live in differnt houses.
Holly used to live at my mams but when she went on holiday i looked after her for my mam, but i just kept her. I then bought another 5 gliders to keep Holly company cos her mate Dweezil died.
If i go on holiday, the gliders would go to my mams. I would give her a weeks (or 2) supply of readily set up food for them and take their normal cage. i would have to dismantle it and put it in my partners car tho cos it wont fit in mine. I would like them to be in a familiar place in a strange environment, if you know what i mean?
The reason they would go to my mams instead of anyone else is my mam would let them out, having kept gliders herself and they would get plenty of attention off her, and i know nothing bad would happen to them. And the gliders semi-know my mam so it wouldnt be like living with a total stranger. Holly and Onion are quite bonded to her and the males would just follow suit.

great thanks yeah thats what I thought. familiar home is less of a shock to the system and less stressful.
wow that first glider certainly had an impact on you to go ahead and get a further 5. big shock to the wallet too.

Thank you for this post, and I have to admit the bad stuff hasn't put me off. I'm just hoping they are a bit more friendly than the chipmunks I used to have.

If it has, then suggies weren't the right pets for them. It's always best to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (lol). Sugar coating them just makes it worse on them when the new keeper discovers they're not all sweetness and light and decides to get rid!

Fab info! Every potential owner should read this - at least it would maybe help reduce the impulse buys eh?!

I am bumping this as we have a lot of new potential owners and some old hats that might fancy a refresher or experience from someone elses POV.
