Just a reminder to check your pouches and your toys regularly for fraying and loose threads, these can prove to be fatal!!!

I have recently lost a glider because of a bloody hanging toy!!!!  It was a huge fish which I hung from the roof of the cage, she crawled through a tiny hole into the tail of the fish and couldn't get out!!!  Naturally I'm gutted and very angry at myself for not noticing she wasn't up with the rest of them!  So before putting toys in cages make sure there are no little holes they can squeeze through, as with something like the fish tail either cut the tail off completely or slit the tail open so if one does squeeze in they can get out too!!!

Loose threads, another hazard, they can get caught around limbs and depending on how much the suggie struggles or winds itself around could result in at best a broken limb, it could result in traumatic loss of a limb or it could end in death because your suggie has exhausted him/herself struggling to get free.

Don't take any chances, check your pouches and toys regularly!!  Check all suggies are present and correct evening and morning!  (If you're anything like me you'll check them in your sleep too!!!).

Thanks, Marie. We all need little reminders like this occasionally. I have a large fish that is a ferret toy - could it be the same as yours?
Sad So sorry about your glider. . . . .

Sounds like it could be the same!  Mine was a Marshalls ferret toy.  I loved it and my suggies loved it, you stick your hand in and try and find the hole to the tail, you can barely fit a finger through!!!

Oh dear. Reading this post has made me check a snuggle pouch I made. ( In anticipation of getting a glider but still) it's a good reminder to check cage safety even with bought toys etc
Thanks Marie

I check mine every morning and it doesn't half p**s them off, I just tell them I'm checking they're ok and I love them but they crab like hell.lol. I'd rather p**s them off n know they're ok though. Guess I'd be a bit miffed if someone came into my room in the middle of the night flicking lights on just to see I'm asleep! I'll be turning my pouches inside out too n checking for threads.
