No....as I said just talk to him and put the fleece in his pouch, when you feel he has calmed a little and is ready just hold a treat upto the bars and see if he comes to you.  Dont chase him round the cage with it, you will get there but you deff need a lot of patience with these little fuzzbutts.  They can be pretty scary when they lunge, hence the term fluffy cobra's hehe.

I have a piece of fabric in his pouch with my scent on it and a shirt over the top of the cage. I never chase him around, don't worry. He's really playfull, but kinda jumpy, but he doesn't run from me either. It is really scary when they lunge at you. He never crabs though so I don't know when he's gonna do it. He's a mysterious little bugger.

He was barking last night. What does that mean?

The meaning behind barking still isn't completely understood... Some say it's a warning of danger to the rest of the colony, others say it's the colony's way of finding eachother...  Some say each bark has a different meaning.

Yeh he may be seeing if theres any buddies out there.  Dont fall into the trap of giving him attention when he barks, I used to get up and give them a treat doh........they then done it every night until they got a treat, I soon learnt Grin

Some more great info.

I'mn glad to see the amount of decent and all encompassing info there is on this site. It gives potential keepers like myself a lot to read and think about.

Hi,when i brought my Suggies the seller told me that she had hand reared them from a young age whilst there she  put her hand in the pouch they did crab but not for longer she picked them up and took them out without them bitting or trying to get away they were bonded to her from what ive read about bonding.I know that it is not a 5min job and im happy to wait until they are ready they dont crab when i stroke the pouch during the day i handle it with them in no problem i have put a tissue in with them that i wiped over my face for my smell read it somewhere that it helps with the bonding. My problem is with the biting they take food from me through the bars but one in particular tries to bite if i have my hand resting on the cage it has bitten and drawn blood and even though the bit is hard and it seems that it means business as if it cant get to me it will bite the bars i think that it could bite harder if it wanted i do keep my hand there even though at the first bite my reflex kicks in but once ive had the first bite i keep my hand there taunt to try to keep it from getting a hold on me.Any help on why it does this.Thanks.Lesley

I don't give any of my animals treats through the bars...  They then see anything by the bars as treats and will bite first and decide if it's edible later.

Well, you're a big push over Wink I think it's because I keep rats, as well, and they can get pretty snatchy through bars if you give them treats that way...
