I know that some time ago someone already asked this but i just wanted to get the science behind it if thats okay.

Is it right that a neutered SG can still get it on?

I don't really get it if they can. If their 'man bits' are removed and their testosterone levels drop how do they manage to 'get it up' if you see what i mean?

please explain someone.

It's true. Some male gliders have no interest in females and others have more circulating testosterone and can still mate with a female in heat. The adrenals make small amounts of testosterone in males so amounts can vary from glider to glider.

BTW, some male dogs can still have erections and sex with a female in heat even though their "male bits" are also removed. Even if their "male bits" were removed prior to sexual maturity.

How long has he been neutered Hannah?  It can take upto a month for his hormone levels to drop, and also he can still impregnate the female for upto a month (poss 2?) after neutering.

About a month and a half. To be honest i was glad to see him back to him old self after all the trouble. I just wondered how long it would go on for and why he could still manage. But as long as he is happy and no little suggies arrive from him i'm happy. (although my suggie with his testicles in the wrong place is very fertile and will have to be done. I have babies on the way any day now.)

Sorry, thought i mentioned that. Got a bit butchered by my vet and i was really worried for a while that he wouldn't be alright. He stopped eating and had to be had fed fluids etc. So seeing him back to normal was a relief.

Argh, I think you did mention it actually!  How old was he?  And after he was done was he REALLY scatty.  We're finding that the longer you leave it the worse they seem to be temperament wise (for a short while), which I really don't understand as no one handles the suggie until he is out for the count (can't spell anaesthetised!  Grin).  They act like they're absolutely terrified of you!!  Sad
