Thanks for the info crackers on livefood, just wanted more info so posting here aswell m8.

We noticed 2 weeks ago that our female was pregnant, we basicaly kept things as they where but we did loose one due to it getting lost in its bed this was fixed and is another story u can question me on later.

Today on checking the joey we found him left in the pouch while them to where eating away and now the wife is all worried he has been rejected, when dad saw that we where there he ran over and picked the joey up with his mouth on the side of his body lookeed painfull and we panicked he dropped it back in the pouch and we then placed it on to mums back where they seemed happy.

The joey has just started to open its eyes so we belive him tobe 3-4 weeks old.

Can any one shed some light on this.

Here is a picture we got in the bed.

Hiya, a joey being left on it's own in the pouch isn't a sign of rejection by itself.  However, dad picking it up like that I would be vary wary of!  A the parents likely to allow you to have a good look at the joey?  You need to have a good look at it to see if there are any injuries present, if possible and you have scales small enough weigh him/her too (just don't take the joey out of the parents site completely!).

In the meantime, familiarise yourself with -HANDREARING A JOEY just in case you need it.

Like Marie said a joey being left on its own is ok, but I too dont like the sound of how dad picked it up.  Keep an eye out for bite marks around the face as this is a good sign of rejection. As long as the joey is only left for short periods of time only its normal, mine will sometimes leave the joey for upto an hour whilst they are eating and playing but if they hear it cry they generally go back to the pouch.  If the joeys eyes have just opened it will be around 10 days oop.  I weigh mine every other night just to make sure they are gaining, I always handle the joeys infront of mum and dad for a few minutes at a time and gradually build up the time.  Its deff worth getting some supplies in when you have a breeding pair just incase of rejection.
Good luck.
