i have seen a few members have large  wooden glass fronted cages just like vivariums i use my reptiles.
are they ok to use? i can see the plus ponits keeps warm stops any smell into the room/stops the waller getting splash with food and water, but does the glass doors cause any problem with the gliders jumping at it and hurting them selfs?
cheers ian

They do jump in to the glass alot if they're bonded with you and like to jump on you.  I've never heard of any injuries though as they can't get much speed up to do damage.

Im good with wood and make viv's for my large snake collection, don't get me wrong i can also build custom made cages also but i like the look of a viv but if it nor suitable for a couple of gliders then i will knock the idea

They can be lovely glider cages Smiley One good way to help use more of the space is by putting willow trellis around the wooden walls, so they can still climb them (just like they would if they were bars) and they'll learn soon enough that they can't climb the glass side.  Maybe if you put a perch near the front, that can be their "treat spot".  My girls have a perch fr treats and they will wait there for their yoggie drops Smiley

cool LoL i Had willow on the walls of my breeding chameleons so the females could use the whole of the viv and not just the branches to get away from the male if they want peace and quiet :-)
Do you add and light or heat to the Cages/Tanks??

As long as the room they are kept in is relatively warm (comfy for people), then they don't need extra heat.  As for lights, some gliders don't actually come out if there are lights on, so if you wanted to add lights, I'd only add a small red light Smiley But that is just me.

cool i get what your saying about the light i was reading some are shy of the light But having a low wattage bulb would give them a sense of day and night only because my front room is very dark in the day time (my front room is to the back of the house and house is in the shade) And if i make a vivarium style cage it would be dark in there as all but the front would be made from wood!

Ahh yes, I do like having a good light cycle going.  The critter room is quite bright.

STOs, rats, mice, and a hedgehog all live in the critter room with the gliders, but I also have two western hognose snakes, three cats, and a dog Smiley

A day/night cycle is important for them, a rep room should be fine without needing extra heat, if your rep room is anything like ours it's the warmest room in the house.   Smiley
