Hope I have posted in the correct part Smiley Im wanting to learn as much as possible before I even consider a Suggy, so bear with me.... wub

I have read that only certain types of cages can be used to house them in IE the way the bars are placed,Zinc free metal etc, what ones would you suggest?

Are they best kept in pairs?..I would prefer same sex if pairs are a imperative  as I am not interested in breeding, so do males kept together fight or females?

I know after a lot of patience they develop a close bond with their human family, do they gravitate to one particular person and if so are they hostile towards the rest of the household?

I know they are nocturnal and once the bond has established does that mean no sleep for me if it is put in its cage during the night?

Is it a important for them to have constant heat sources? IE a hot rock or a ceramic heat bulb when in their cage?

and lastly (phewwwwww)

What is the recommended age to get a joey at? and have they a high mortality rate in captivity?

thanks all in advance  xxx

Are they best kept in pairs?..Yes definetly keep them in at least a pair or a trio. They do not fair well by themselves and this can cause serious psychological problems.

it depends on the glider tbh. if the glider has had a stressful past, they can sometimes only be friendly and open up to one person, like a rescue glider. But most babies and young gliders, or gliders with a good past, will be friendly with everyone. They will always have a stronger bond with their main carer though.

I know they are nocturnal and once the bond has established does that mean no sleep for me if it is put in its cage during the night? not at all. They can come out at night for a couple of hours before you go to bed. mine wake up anywhere from 5pm-12pm.

naaa, not really needed. As long as the temperature in the room doesnt dip below room temperature, they shud be fine.

no less then 10weeks of age. Noooo! sugar gliders can live for about 15 years. they very hardy little animals too so dont often get sick if you have the husbandry correct.
