There is a lot of conflicting stories on websites out there but you get that with most pets. The diets most of us use on here are far from a lot of the American web sites, but what I was getting at is that he doesn't really go into any detail about the way he looks after his gliders to give u any help.  There is always conflicting arguments when people look after animals, the way I feed and look after my dogs is different to someone elses.

Some say they are hard to care for, this bloke says they aren't.
Im just trying to establish some basic information from various online sources and determine which is most credible.
Im more confused now than when I started Sad
Thanks anyway.

I think that if you are really interested in an animal then it's diet then you can find it easier than if you just want a pet that eats a dry food. I don't find my gliders diet difficult as I like learning new things and trying things.

I've not watched the vid as I'm at work so I can't but sugar gliders are not 'hard' to look after, they do however have more specific needs than a hamster for example.  Their diet is more complicated than the average pet as you can't just go out and buy a pack of glider food, they need more space than you would imagine a small animal would need, and they also need enrichment.

Many small mammals are kept in tiny cages, receive little enrichment or socialisation and the diet is basic.  These small mammals however require so much more, I always describe them as big animals in little bodies.

I think though, if you're willing to persevere and overcome the 'complicatedness' of it all then you're worthy of sugar gliders  Smiley

I hope that helped a little?

I totally agree with Marie. They aren't really hard to look after, so long as you are willing to put in the time and effort Smiley

This thread might help a little:

I forgot to add, I personally don't agree with his diet info and I wouldn't compare feeding a dog or cat, to feeding sugar gliders. They also need more supplements that he suggests. I also don't like the fact he doesn't seem to make it clear, that you NEED to keep them in pairs.

He doesn't reply explaining they need companionship, with another suggie to these comments either:

I'm very interested in getting a sugar glider! the only thing that worries me is that i live by myself and work a pretty typical 9-5, around that i would have time to play and bond, but is it damaging to them mentally to be alone for so many hours in the day?

i dont know where to get a sugar glider i am wanting one i live in tn

Where would I get a sugar glider?

I know he says Gliders, but he doesn't exactly make it clear Sad

Not watches the vid yet, but as soon as I saw who it was my immediate reaction was 'oh no'.  This guy has developed a peller diet for gliders and has connections with a very large glider mill in the states.  Think puppy farm but sugar gliders instead!  Sad

Ok, after 5 minutes I'd heard enough and hit the nice red box in the corner!!!

He did have a nice healthy looking glider on him there's no doubt about that, but some of his 'facts' were rubbish!  They are not low maintenance pets, the fact you have to play with them every night else they get depressed (according to this guy), the fact they have a diet that is more difficult to prepare than the average animal, the fact they are not easy to tame which is why we need patience, the fact they need a large cage (much bigger than the cage in the background which I'm hoping isn't his suggies cage!) all makes for a high maintenance pet!
