When I am eventually settled (summer 2011) I'll finally after years of wanting and research sugar gliders be able to get some. My plan is to get 2 neutered brothers. I was wondering is 2 a fair amount for the sugar gliders or would they be happier if I got a trio? A neutered male and 2 females? (I know 2 males and 1 female could cause fighting)

Thanks

Gary

2 is fine, personally though I'd say three is the magic number.  Mainly in case one of them dies you're not left with one and then you worry about what to do next!

I always prefer to see gliders in groups of 3 or more.  I have the pleasure of getting to observe many different cages of gliders and I have noticed that those in colonies of 3-6 are more...... "glider-like."  If that makes any sense.  I notice an increase in species specific behaviors and exploration/foraging behaviors in groups fo 3 or more.  Also, they develop a colony hierarchy once there are 3 or more.  I find this very interesting.
