so i was out and about with kiwi yesterday and popped into a pet shop in the bromley area, the girl behind the counter approaches me and mentions a male suggie, lone, that needs adopting urgently.....i gave this some thought and after (everyone that is obsessed with sugar gliders will understand this) making my calculations figuring out housing etc...i decided i could put up just one more lol...i originally had two and was like hmmm this is enough....i have 5 now and 2 more on the way from mumma.. since mr biggleworth died i've decided that  scary would probably like a brand new friend to hang out with....ive factored in the quarentine period and also that this little one will need neutering before i start bonding him with mr scary. but im hoping it works out well.

His story is this, the guy that found him was working on a house and saw this tiny little mouse cage shoved underneath a radiator,  he was disgusted to find that it was actually the glider being kept in the mouse cage and when he found him he was caked in his own faeces and urine.

As he had kept suggies before the guy took him and went straight to the vets, i believe the vet had to chop out a lot of fur to get him clean, he was eating well and got to a normal weight, after the guy took him to the vets 2 months later he got a clean bil of health and this is where i came in.

as the guy keeps parrots now, and has no other suggies to put him with he was more than happy for him to come along to my lot particularly as this suggie had been alone for a while, he did want to sell but i said to him that i would resuce him for free and that it would be better him coming to me than being sold to someone looking for a single sugar glider ( if that makes sense)

He is absolutely adorable and looks nice and healthy though the diet and fur could probably do with a teeny bit of adjustment...

Anyway, im happy to announce that there is a cute new addition to my lot and his name is Dexter, Named after my favourite tv show ever, pretty appropriate  as the main character (dexter) was rescued from a really gruesome scene (any Dexter fans will probably get this name choice teehee)

That's a shocking story!  Good on you for taking him in, the poor little mite!  Sad

After you've had him neutered, keep him separate from all other entire males for a month to allow for the hormones to settle.

Poor thing!!! Why do people bother getting pets like SGs if they can't even be bothered to try and look after them properly... x

I think it's because they're cute, people see them and buy them on a whim! There are lots of people and shops out there that will sell single gliders, or gliders to people without even going through their care (usually because they don't know how to care for them themselves).  It's so frustrating!!
