Hi im going to look at a trio of female gliders from a local private sale opefully this week, they will be my first gliders.

The trio consists of mother 1.5yrs and 2 daughters around 8-9 months.

It used to be a bonded pair however the male escaped and sadly died, after speaking to the current owners in depth,Roxy the mum has since been very shy and wont tolerate men,she will come and feed yoghurt from the hand eventually but currently is taking alot of work.

Could this be the after effects of losing her partner?
I know she is in with her young but cant be the same for her!
any info would be great thanks

Hmm, that's an extreme reaction if her hatred of men is to do with losing her mate.  I personally wouldn't associate the two, unless of course the man of the house upset/hurt them in some way (I'm NOT saying that happened btw).   There are no guarantees that the female was bonded before her loss, you only have the current owners word for that.

But this is a good example of why 3 or more suggies is a better idea than a pair, suggies will get stressed/upset when they lose a cage mate but at least they still have each other.

That is up to you, go and see them and then make a decision.  I'm sure she'd come round to men eventually, but putting another male suggie in the cage won't make her any friendlier.  Smiley
