I was really hoping i wouldn't have to post in this forum for years to come, but Paige passed away this morning Cry

She was one of the sisters that was raised and fed AWFULLY. Her sister Poppy gets frequent seizures because of their upbringing i think, and Paige was always "scatty". Part of her charm though!

Last night she went absolutely crazy, starting really trying to attack the other suggies, then tried to hurt herself, so i pulled her out and when it was clear she couldn't be near any of the other sugar gliders i played with her for as much as i could, gave her treats then put her in a pouch around some pillows to fall asleep. I've still got scratches on my hand where i tried to stop her from SM'ing. I woke up this morning to her in the pouch curled up, in a perminant sleep Cry

Last night was so out of character for her, i don't know what happened. She used to be so grumpy and scared of people but in the last 6 months she's opened up so much. She grew to trust people and learned to enjoy playtime with other people instead of being on edge.

At the moment i have no idea what to do with her Sad Just sitting here having a little cry. I'm supposed to be going to a birthday party later and now i really don't want to either.

My poor little Paige, i hope she's surrounded by yogurt drops wherever she is...

Oh Steph, I'm so sorry  Cry.

I cannot give you any answers, the only way you would know what happened is a necropsy.   Sad

Thank you, all of you.

I decided in the end to get a necropsy done and then get her cremated. I took her to the vet yesterday evening to drop her off Sad

I ended up going out/ getting drunk last night and ended up talking to one of my friends about her. I remember my first fish that died, first cat, first dog, and Paige was my first suggie... it still feels really raw.

I am hoping that i realise that she was actually just a pet soon. At the moment i feel really guilty, like she was a sister or something, and it's really making things worse. I can't imagine having to go through this 5 more times :/ I want my other suggies to live forever!

Anyway, enough babbling, i should get the results a week on Monday. I think something bad enough to kill her just snapped in her brain or something, and she was fighting with herself and the other suggies to try and make it right, but it was just waiting to happen. I dunno, i feel like more has happened to Poppy and Paige than i know about considering their health, which worries me.

It does feel like a member of the family has died. I was distraught when Holly died. I didnt go to work for about 2 weeks.

At least take comfort in the fact she no longer suffering. She obviously had something really wrong happening probs in her brain.

Let us know what the results were, and it does get easier Steph. Ive lost 2 gliders, 1 chinchilla, 1 gerbil and a hedgehog in 2 years through different problems and its hard to begin with but you learn to remember them for the nicer things. Like for me, that Alesha Dixon, the boy does nothing song, reminds me of Holly cos i used to dance with her on my shoulder to it! lol

You will end up remembering her for things like that, rather then the end. Smiley

I am starting to remember her for the little trouble maker she was! Smiley

Got the results and picked up her ashes today. She came in a lovely wooden carved box with a plaque with her name on it. It's very pretty.

The vet said that it looked like she suffered from neurological symptoms, and may have even been getting seizures. She died from lack of oxygen to the brain which makes me think of suffocating Sad Didn't look like she had any bugs/ parasites, nor any deficiencies that he could tell. Paige never got any seizure before though (at least not like how Poppy gets them- grand mal seizures) so it makes me wonder if they were both very damaged Sad Or even if it was Paige at all. It's possible it was Poppy i suppose. They both warmed up quite well to me. I'll only know if it's Poppy or Paige if i see the other one having seizures.

Either way, she is in the front room now, bless her! I will miss her greatly.
