As Jen has said, UK tap water is fine, it's in the US where they seem to have problems.

oh right, because it said something about there being chlorine in the tap water? I asked someone about whether we have chlorine in the tap water and they said we do but not much so i presume it is fine?

I give mine filtered water, we have a filter because we have very hard water in our area. I have never has any issues whatsoever, but if it makes you feel better you could but you could buy a product called Repti safe which is a water additive and removes the chlorates from the water.
