I don't know if this is considered an emergency, but i am freaking out quite alot :/

Woke up and gave the suggies some more food and water this morning and they were FINE.

Got home, and was cleaning my room/ moving furniture around when i noticed at least two dead on the cage floor Sad Looks like they've eaten each other >_<

One is missing but i am hesitant to go i and look inside to find another mutilated body >_<

Pom is DEFINATELY alive, as he greeted me when i came in.

Why must they eat each other? WHy would they do this? Sad I feel so awful.

And now i don't know what to do.

Thanks Jen. I can't tell you how much you helped on the phone. I might have taken all night to calm down!

I went into the cage and there were three suggies on the floor. Pumba, Poppy and Pippa.

They all looked a bit mutilated. I am sure i identified one as Poppy as her tongue was hanging out? Not sure if sugar gliders' tongues do that when they seizure, but she is the only one i know of who has a medical illness. Her eyes were eaten out too Sad. Pippa and Pumba's eyes were intact. I noticed Pippa's stomach looked weird. Her pouch looked red and swollen, maybe like it'd been attacked, or it was infected. I am sure there was a hint of green in the middle.

Still not sure what the hell happened, but they are all tucked in and ready to be taken to the vets.

Pom seems okay, he is in the pouch, he will be taken to the vets for a checkup when i drop off the other little ones to be cremated. Not sure if they can do a PM on such little amount of suggies? Sad

I am so shocked that i can go from six to one in months?!

I'm also totally at a loss with what to do with Pom now that he's on his own?!

I'd get him checked out, like I said last night.  Then give him time to grieve before finding him a new cagemate.  I'm so sorry, Steph....  I wish I could have helped more. {{{hugs}}}

Holy cow Steph!  I'm so sorry for your loss  Cry

You don't give them cucumber do you?  Have you given them anything different to their normal diet in the last few days?  Sounds like something could have poisoned them, but then why 3 and not all 4?

The stomach with a hint of green concerns me, when that happens to a reptile it generally means that the stomach has ruptured.

If I were you, I would remove everything from the cage and scrub it in F10, use the strongest dilution which I think is 5 ml to 1 litre of water just in case there is something nasty in there.

Thanks Marie Cry

Taking Pom to the vets now.

I don't feed them cucumber (they only really get yogurt, yoggie dropps or cheesse as a treat sometimes).

They've had nothing different in their diet :/

That's what i was thinking if it was poison! I am baffled as to why Pom is the only one standing. He didn't have any blood on him either, whereas some of the others did.

They still had food in the morning (and evening) left over, it's not cold in my house and they all lived fine together for AGES.

Do you think it's worth asking if they can do a PM?

I cleaned it last night with f10 and changed most of the things inside, but i'm going to do it again tonight as i threw away some of the things inside the cage (don't think i can wash out dead suggie Sad)

He was REALLY quiet last night. He was also licking the branches? He didn't eat, but did drink some glideraid.

Poor little man will be very stressed.  Try and keep an eye on his food intake and if he's not eating again tonight, add some honey to his mush, to just try and make it extra special.

I think a PM would be a good idea.

Added some oatmeal/honey and mealworms to his bowls to see if he takes the bait tonight. He's not even eating treats :O

Luckily i can get a PM and cremation done for them all indivually. The PM results will be in in four days. Might not tell me anything (and i imagine some things will be difficult to look for seeing as the exact TOD isn't know. They could have died a day/ day and a half ago), but hopefully i will know if there is any risk to Pom. Might even get an explanation as to why!

Pom doesn't have a fever, and he hasn't lost weight. No sign of infection or poisoning. He is dehydrated which is worrying, but his eyes are still bright. No gliding/ jumping/ playing/ eaing from him yet, but i'm hoping i can tempt him with yogurt/ honey tomorrow! Overall the vet said he looks alright considering, just need to watch incase any symptoms show up.

I AM ABSOLUTELY GUTTED. I can't even describe Sad

For any future owners i would take note. It's not nice to have to pick up suggie pieces >_< And everything including PM's, cremation and check ups for Pom is going to cost nothing short of £1200. Luckily i saved up money for emergencies instead of having insurance, but i honestly don't think you can put a price on their health and happiness.

Should get some of the basic PM results in 4 days time.

He wasn't eating for the first two days, but i have managed to tempt him with some of that Ella's Kitchen baby food. Was getting rather worried that he wasn't even interested in oatmeal, honey or mealies!

He was jumping around a bit today when i came which is great Smiley A massive improvement considering he wasn't even walking around in the cage and he is my most adventurous glider. He looks like he's peaked up a bit as well. He greeted me at the cage door like nromal as well, instead of hiding all night like he was doing Thursday-Friday.

He is jumping and gliding around which is great to see, and he's eating well now too.

Got the inital results of the PM and the results came back as inconclusive. So no obvious infection or poisoning. More extensive tests on the brain and spinal cords will be done, and i should get the results in the next 2-4 weeks.

Pom must be so lonely! Sad
