We do have a UK equivalent of the USDA, they're called DEFRA but they don't tend to get involved in pet welfare issues. The difference is the environment in many states is suitable for gliders to live in, in some States they are actually illegal. Alot of US States have made it illegal to keep many different types of exotic animals.
To help improve the welfare all we can do as a community is continue to advise and educate people what gliders are REALLY like, there should be no pussy footing around, if someone is to make an informed decision then they need all the facts and that is what this forum is about.
