i told the person who gave me the new suggies that lily had a baby & she then decided to inform me there was a brother and sister in the colony so the baby could be inbred. i asked her so many questions about them when she brought them to me and she never mentioned that fact before!! im so dissapointed in her its unreal, and i feel really guilty because without seeing mine she might not have got them. is there anything i can do? will the joey die? im so upset right now and i dont really know what to do, i don't want anyone else to get pregnant but i was informed that she could be expecting again already. alfies booked in for the snip in a few weeks but is there anything else i can do? do you think i should seperate them or will that just cause loads more stress? i don't know what to do

All I can say is that the person you got the gliders off is a disgrace and I would ve banging their door down. On another note, just get yr male and any other males that you have snipped and keep the little possible 'inbred' one. Other the fact that it's brother is it's dad it may have nothing wrong with it. Just be positive and give it a lovely life.

don't worry, i went absolutely mad at her! apparently she thought he was neutured but i could tell straight away that he wasn't. He's the only male left to neuter, my other 2 are completely seperate. I guess ill just get him neutured asap and hope for the best!
im going to be gutted if anything happens to her.

Don't worry too much, there is rarely problems with first generation inbred, lets face it, it happens all the time in other animals thanks to man's quest for what they perceive to be perfection.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's ok to do, it's not, but it's not your fault so don't feel bad.  You were not informed and you're not psychic.  As Mark said, get he boys snipped and carry on as normal.   

Lol - you just posted before me!  How could she 'think' he was neutered??  Surely you'd know if you'd had your animal neutered or not ... or is that just me?!?

Aw poor little hope! I have no idea in regard to the inbreeding however I would say the fact that she has made it out of pouch and seems healthy at this stage is a good sign, and she is absolutely beautiful bless her!
Their previous owner sounds like the worst kind of keeper - hoping for all the joys of keeping such lovely creatures without actually doing any appreciable research; grrr impulse pet buyers!!
Hope you're ok hun, and don't let it completely spoil the joys of having such a gorgeous new arrival!

it's because the person i got them off had only had them for a few months, she bought them off someone else as adults, as you said, on impulse & apparently was told he was neutured. she didn't do nearly as much research as she should have, run into financial problems& that's why they ended up with me.
well hopefully she'll be fine then, i do tend to panic a bit haha.

Agreed. Problems arise from inbredness beyond first generation. In fact in the wild the occassional brother-sister meet can easily and does occur. Inbredness even occurs in humans - all you need to do is look at isolated groups of people in conjunction with lifestyle (affordability, sociability etc) ... for example, Portsmouth is a very inbred city, most of the portsmouth natives look quite similar and because the city is not attached to the UK mainland (except by two roads) no one ever leaves.... ever!!!! lol [I would now like to point out that I do not have anything against Portsmouth and their inhabitants, it is just an observation that has been made]

anyways... i fear i've gone a little off point lol but dont worry too much, genetics is a complex thing, and the liklihood that mutations which will cause deformatory diseases/problems is quite low. Hope this helps a little
