Hi all any advice on a newbie setting up?
Im looking at ex parrot cages or something along those lines,
any advice is appreciated

Parrot cages will have too wide of bar spacing...  Go for indoor aviaries aimed at finches and other small birds.  You cna find 'em cheap second hand...  Ebay is great.
